Can you indicate what versions of Monogdb are supported by Mongoid.

Specifically can mongodb version 3.0 be used by Mongoid version 3.1?

Hi Kirk

Mongoid >= 5.0 supports MongoDB >= 2.4 and Ruby >= 1.9
https://docs.mongodb.com/ecosystem/tutorial/mongoid-installation/#compatibility

Mongoid < 5.0 is not officially supported by MongoDB Inc and it has its own driver. This is a summary of the support in older versions of Mongoid:

Mongoid 3.0 supports MongoDB 2.0 - 2.6
Mongoid 4.0 supports MongoDB 2.4 - 2.6

If it would be possible for you to upgrade to Mongoid 5.0, that would be ideal.
I hope that helps!

Emily

Thank you Emily.

I had been hoping to be able to continue using Mongoid 3.1 while upgrading to MongoDB 3.0.

An initial attempt to so do shows that Mongoid 3.1 does interface with MongoDB 3.0 at least at a superficial level. But based on your comment I may run into issues

I have looked at upgrading to Mongoid 5 but it requires ActiveRecord >4.0 and that means moving my whole application up to Rails 4 which is a major undertaking as many of the other gems will also have to be bumped and evaluated since some like  RefineryCMS require ActiveRecord < 4.0  .

Hi Kirk

I understand that the upgrade is not simple but if you do end up upgrading to Rails 4 / Mongoid 5, please feel free to ask any questions.

Thanks

Emily
