I'm a SQL Server DBA trying to use MongoDB for some particular cases. What I have at the moment is 3 node replica set with 2 data bearing nodes and 1 arbiter. The thing that i'm struggling at the moment is finding a clear answer on how to create backups that will allow me a point in time restores, similar to what you have in MS SQL with FULL and LOG backups. How can i do that?

Hi KutangPan,

What backup method are you trying to deploy?

Here you can find a list of supported backup methods by MongoDB: https://docs.mongodb.com/manual/core/backups/

All the best,

MongoDB themselves provide a solution for PITR that you need to pay for..

Percona are doing some opensource work that might evolve into supporting PITR.

Otherwise you'll need to roll something yourself.
