Hi All,

I have installed and configured MongoDB on Oracle Linux Server release 6.6 as in https://docs.bmc.com/docs/digitalworkplacebas/33/installing-and-setting-up-mongodb-on-linux-655602858.html . Everything seems to work fine with out any issues  but when i try to stop/restart the mongod service ex: service mongod status, i get : mongod: unrecognized service but mongodb is installed under /dbdata/mongodb/mongoDB4.0/bin/mongo

Also created the file /etc/mongod.conf as mentioned in the link above but that didn't help. Please advise.

Thanks,
Sharmila

Hi Sharmila,

Could you please follow the instructions in Install MongoDB Community Edition on Red Hat Enterprise or CentOS Linux ? The tutorial should be applicable to Oracle Linux as well.

Before installing, please make sure that the old MongoDB installation is fully uninstalled so you don’t have two conflicting installations.

Best regards,
Kevin

Hi Vivek/ Kevin,

I have sorted the issue by creating a file under  /etc/init.d/mongod as mentioned in https://docs.bmc.com/docs/digitalworkplacebas/33/installing-and-setting-up-mongodb-on-linux-655602858.html

Now i am able to start and stop the services. Thanks a lot both of you !!

Regards,
Sharmila
