Hello

I've noticed that the mongodb-10gen-unstable package for ubuntu is outdated (2.5.2) while the latest version is already at 2.5.4. Is the package/repo still maintained? Any alternatives other than downloading the binary? I love the package installing the init/upstart service.

Thanks

Hi Pieter,

We changed the packages from 2.5.3 onward to remove "10gen" from the names (since the company name changed from "10gen" to "MongoDB"). To get the latest version you can remove the mongodb-10gen-unstable packages with a command like "sudo apt-get remove mongodb-10gen-unstable" and install mongodb-org-unstable packages instead.

Thanks,
Ernie

Thanks ernie

Will the old packages automatically be removed/replaced by the new ones when I install them? Or do I have to explicitly remove them beforehand?

Hi Pieter,

You'll have to uninstall the old packages explicitly.

Hi Ernie

Actually it was not necessary. The old packages were identified as conflicting and I was prompted for automatic removal.

However the new unstable packages now use mongod.conf and not mongodb.conf. Same for the log and name of the service. Not a problem though.

Thanks
Pieter

Great! That's even better.
