Is the Uninstall / Install the only solution (and probably loose all saved sessions) or some other light solution?

It’s been a while since you posted this question, have you found a solution yet ?
It’s possible that you may have an orphan node process on the background, which may requires a restart.
I would also recommend to upgrade Compass to the latest version: Compass Download
The community edition v1.10.3 has just been released.
If you’re using MongoDB Compass as part of the MongoDB Professional/Enterprise edition please open a private MongoDB support ticket.
