Something probably similar to NODE-845 (https://jira.mongodb.org/browse/NODE-845)

WIndows 7 Pro SP1 64-bit
Start MongoDB Compass.
While it is loading first screen and previous connections, click Connect
New screen is opened and again loading first screen.
Hard-close the second screen (ALT-F4 or Ctrl-W or from top-right x).
First screen fails, screenshot attached.
All next starts end with same error, screenshot attached.
How to restore? Is the Uninstall / Install the only solution (and probably loose all saved sessions) or some other light solution?

Hi Toomas,

It’s been a while since you posted this question, have you found a solution yet ?

It’s possible that you may have an orphan node process on the background, which may requires a restart.
I would also recommend to upgrade Compass to the latest version: Compass Download
The community edition v1.10.3 has just been released.

If you’re using MongoDB Compass as part of the MongoDB Professional/Enterprise edition please open a private MongoDB support ticket.

Regards,
Wan.

Hi,

To avoid restarting Windows, use Resource Monitor -> CPU tab -> in handles type Compass, and Kill all associated processes. It will solve the issue without need of a restart.

Regards,
Andrei
