I hope that I have reached all of our members, properly.  Here are the minutes from today’s Money Talks meeting.

 

Money Talk Meeting Minutes

Date of Meeting:                   Thursday, April 18, 2013

Theme for Meeting:             “Now THAT was a challenge!”

Word of the Day:                  Equivocate

 

Many of our fellow Toastmasters had a busy schedule this week and therefore attendance was impacted.  “Now THAT was a challenge!” However,  we had a great session, nonetheless.

 

Byron Mott was our honorary Toastmaster for the day and kept the club on track.

 

Debbie Marie did a fantastic job inducting Katie to the Money Talks Club.  The team is pleased to have Katie join the Irvine group.  Congratulations and Welcome Katie!!

 

Our first and only speaker was George Li who provided useful insight on the subject of “How a FICO Score Breaks Down”.  The title for George’s speech was:  “Credit Score, What the H** is it?”  George started off with an important question for all us. Do you check your credit score?  He informed us that less than 1/3 of us pay attention to this valuable information.  He provided a colorful handout on the five factors that make up a FICO score and remained cool and calm while presenting excellent details.  George was our Best Speaker, today.

 

Patricia Calhoun was the Evaluator for George.  In her excitement to provide helpful feedback, Patricia spoke just past the approved time available.  Patricia gave George some constructive suggestions for his next speech and recognized his areas of strength.

 

Rosie Thrasher conducted some wonderful table topics.  We had time for 4 well thought out questions all related to some challenging situations.  Adrineh, Katie, Bill and Susan all responded in a timely manner and qualified for this category.  Bill was declared the winner and received the Best Table Topics award!

 

Susan Capobianco was the Vote Counter and she was also the Grammarian for today’s meeting.  Rosie, Bill and Patricia all used the Word of the Day (Equivocate).

Our newest member Katie took on the role of Timer and handled the responsibility without a hitch.

 

It was a smaller audience but a successful Toastmasters experience.  Thank you to all participants and our special guest from UC Irvine.

Dear Susan,

I am so glad that you came forward and wrote the minutes of the meeting.  I had  been earlier voicing my disappointment to Rosie that no one had come forward even after entreating members in an earlier email to come forward and write the minutes.  Thank you for taking the initiative.  If a couple of more members volunteer, then we will have a steady stream of minutes flowing as this would cover any absent or busy member.

My only suggestion to all future minute writers is that let us not mention who won the ribbon except in an extraordinary situation, or the results of elections and contests.  The reason for this being that we don't want even a single member to feel a twinge of discouragement or disappointment.

Each of us is an individual and a team simultaneously.  We flourish when we support and help each other grow individually and collectively.
