So I was out of town for 5 days and when i left home my router was working fine (both Wired and Wireless connections), I came home today and turned on my router and then notice that wired connection is working perfectly but wifi is not working. I am getting exclamation sign on wifi icon on all of my wifi devices. I restarted the router again but it didn't help. I'm not good with the technical stuff and I am at loss as what do i need to do to make it work again.

Could you please specify what's the issue caused by the Wi-Fi exclamation sign? Are your devices not even connected to the Wi-Fi network or they are connected but have a "No internet connection" error?

@endless_despair My internet device is working and connected to my TP Link router and through it Lan/wired connection is working. My WiFi devices do get connected to my tp link router but in WiFi network selection screen (mobile/laptop devices) it says Internet may not be available below the network name. And it also has the exclamation sign with the WiFi icon.

Log into the web management page of the router, then try to modify the wireless settings, try changing the wireless network name to a new one, change the channel to one that gets less interference with your neighbors, choose the security as WPA2-PSK, AES, then reboot the router and connect to the new wireless network to see if you can get the internet back.

This morning I disconnected my ethernet cable from my router that connects to my modem. After reconnecting and rebooting both router and modem, everything powered up fine. My PC that has an ethernet connection to my router regained web access after a minute or so. However, everything that is connected via Wi-Fi lost web access (even though they show connected to my SSID network).

So I tried the usual: rebooting both router and modem again, disconnected wifi connected devices and reconnecting. I tried logging into my router via a web interface and I couldn't connect (normally not an issue) to verify that wireless was turned on. I should also state there is no wireless button on the router itself. So since I couldn't interface with the router, I decided to factory reset it and pray that the default ip address or www.routerlogin.net or www.routerlogin.com would work. No luck on this either. I even factory restarted a few times and also rebooted my router. All the while my pc that is physically connected via ethernet still has internet access. But again, no wireless or no way to login into my router's interface. I tried clearing the cache, trying different web browsers, rebooting my pc, etc.

I should also mention that the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and the wifi on/off button were all solid white, thus indicating wifi should be working. However, the Internet icon was off, indicating that there is no internet. I could see the SSID and connect but could not connect to the internet on any wifi device. However, I was able to pull internet from pc that was physically connected to the router via ethernet. After banging my head against a wall for a day and not being able to console into the router, I decided to unplug every connection and cable and basically start over, as if I had just purchased everything. So after recabling everything and then powering everything up in order, I noticed that my Internet icon was now solid white; and then it dawned on me.....

I must have previously cabled the ethernet to the router in one of the four available ports, not the internet port. When I took everything apart, I put it back together correctly (this time). Now everything is working fine. I'm still not sure why that prevented me from accessing the consoled interface, as I still had a physical connection from my computer to the router. But at least it's working. Layer 1.......

It happened to me once and the tech guy told me that the 2nd router was configured somehow. He checked the IPs and the 2nd router had default IP. So he logged into the router and then he did something with DHCP. I think he turned it off and changed the IP numbers at the end of the IP. And then he did something else.

It is probably an issue with your ip ranges. Say router 1 gets internet from your ISP. That router is set to an ip range like 192.168.0.1. When you reset router 2 it changes it's ip range back to default for example 10.0.0.1. When you now connect router 2 to router 1 it doesn't recognize that device because it has an other ip range.

You say you have one provider for the internet. A typical setup would be to connect the internet to the first router and then connect the first router to the second router. You would do that if you needed two wifi networks for better coverage or separation of concerns (think iot on one wifi, laptops on another).

In order to make connecting one router to another work you have to configure the second router as an access point. This is done by turning off DHCP on the second router. There is usually a network tab on the router page and you would turn off DHCP there. I would also assign a static IP address outside the DHCP range so you can connect to it using the web interface if you ever need to change settings again.

I just recently purchased a 4 camera Arlo system last Thursday. Everything was working fine until my internet went out and they ended up replacing my cable modem. The modem is also the wifi router. Do I need to go through the setup process again so the base station can work with a new wifi router? I can't find any settings where I can just change the network it connects to. Should I just delete the base station and start over?

I'm having the same problem. I just got a new router. I disconnected the arlo base from the old router hooked it up to new router and it has now dissapeared. I tried the system reset all lights turned amber than the power light turned green and all other lights off. What do I need to do to get the system back and running?

Can you verify that the cable works properly by using it on another device/computer or try a different cable? Does the new router's port indicate that the base is connected (via its LED indicators on the port)? Does the router show the base has an IP address? What brand/model router? Some folks outside the US seem to have had equipment supplied that needs to be configured to allow Arlo to work properly. Have you made any changes to the router's settings such as port blocking?

Thank you for responding. I actually switched back to the old router because I rather have slower internet but with cameras. The system still didn't work with the old router. Changed cables that didn't work, the internet works on everything else just not the base. Netgear has been good about helping me figure this out and they believe something is wrong with the base station so they're sending me a different one. Hopefully that will work.

Hello, I bought this system about 4 months ago and it worked great. I just was upgraded to fibre optics to my house and we got a 5-Port Gigabit Desktop Switch (D-Link). Now only the power light on the Arlo stays green and the other lights are off. I tried the rest, unplugging and plugging back in. I also tyried changing the port it was plugged into on the Switch, to no avail. The lighst are green for the other devices plugged into the switch, buit the one that the arlo plugs into stays amber....no matter which port I plug it into (tried them all). please help

I have no problem plugging into a switch. You don't mention trying a different cable which you should do. Also, try temporarily taking the cable from the router to the switch and plug it into the base and/or move the base to the router.

For personalized support specific to the Arlo products you own, access Support from within the Arlo iOS or Android App. Simply login to your Arlo App, go to Settings, Support, then select the Arlo product you would like support for.

Thank you for your quick reply. I've tried both of the above even tried downloading the app on a different phone. Nothing is working. It will not connect to my wifi. Really odd if it's supposed to be able to connect to multiple networks.

After installing a new router it is important that you shut down EVERYTHING on the network and restart. Otherwise, the risk of duplicate IP addresses is very high -- causing your symptoms. Over a period of a few frustrating days, the situation may clear on its own.

Routers connect computers and other devices to the Internet. A router acts as a dispatcher, choosing the best route for your information to travel. It connects your business to the world, protects information from security threats, and can even decide which computers get priority over others.

A router helps you connect multiple devices to the Internet, and connect the devices to each other. Also, you can use routers to create local networks of devices. These local networks are useful if you want to share files among devices or allow employees to share software tools.
