The Clean Water Act (CWA) establishes the basic structure for regulating discharges of pollutants into the waters of the United States and regulating quality standards for surface waters. The basis of the CWA was enacted in 1948 and was called the Federal Water Pollution Control Act, but the Act was significantly reorganized and expanded in 1972. "Clean Water Act" became the Act's common name with amendments in 1972.
Under the CWA, EPA has implemented pollution control programs such as setting wastewater standards for industry. EPA has also developed national water quality criteria recommendations for pollutants in surface waters.
The Office of Water (OW) ensures drinking water is safe, and restores and maintains oceans, watersheds, and their aquatic ecosystems to protect human health, support economic and recreational activities, and provide healthy habitat for fish, plants, and wildlife.
Journal of Industrial Pollution Control is a biannual peer-reviewed, online open access journal known for the rapid publication of innovative research covering all aspects of pollutions that may result in due to industrial production, delivery and consumption including soil, water, and air and the measures need to be taken to minimize its effects on the humanity in general and the planet Earth in particular.
Journal of Industrial Pollution Control publishes in detail on complex issues of industrial pollution control while broadly focusing on areas including wastewater treatment processes, characterization, monitoring and treatment studies on industrial effluent, air pollution control, environmental toxicology, environmental legislation, Recycle and reuse of wastewater, bioremediation, climate change and occupational health.
The journal aims to publish the most complete and reliable source of information on discoveries and current developments as research papers, reviews, technical articles, case reports, short communications, etc. on all aspects of the field, making them available online to the researchers worldwide.
The aim of air quality and environmental management is to protect public health and the environment by controlling air pollution. This includes monitoring air quality, identifying sources of pollution, and implementing measures to reduce emissions. The scope of air quality and environmental management includes both indoor and outdoor air quality, as well as the management of other environmental factors that impact air quality, such as land use and transportation. Effective air quality and environmental management requires collaboration between government, industry, and the public to create sustainable solutions that benefit all.
Pollution is the process of making land, water, air or other parts of the environment dirty and unsafe or unsuitable to use. Air pollutants come in the form of gases or particles. Dirty water is the world's biggest health risk, and continues to threaten both quality of life and public healt

Wastewater treatment is closely related to the standards or expectations set for the effluent quality. Wastewater treatment processes are designed to achieve improvements in the quality of the wastewater. wastewater treatment has three major steps: primary, secondary, and tertiary. Primary treatment involve mechanical process of cleaning, Secondary treatment involves biological process to clean the distributed solids. Tertiary treatment can remove more than 99 percent of all the impurities from sewage, producing an effluent of almost drinking-water quality.

Air pollution is cause by the injurious smoke emitted by cars, buses, trucks, trains, and factories, namely sulphur dioxide, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides. Even smoke from burning leaves and cigarettes are harmful to the environment causing a lot of damage to man and the atmosphere. Evidence of increasing air pollution is seen in lung cancer, asthma, allergies, and various breathing problems along with severe and irreparable damage to flora and fauna.

Soil pollution, which can also be called soil contamination, is a result of acid rain, polluted water, fertilizers etc., which leads to bad crops. Soil contamination occurs when chemicals are released by spill or underground storage tank leakage which releases heavy contaminants into the soil. These may include hydrocarbons, heavy metals, MTBE, herbicides, pesticides and chlorinated hydrocarbons

Global Warming is the increase of Earth's average surface temperature due to effect of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels or from deforestation, which trap heat that would otherwise escape from Earth. The most significant greenhouse gas is actually water vapor. However, even slight increases in atmospheric levels of carbon dioxide can cause a substantial increase in temperature.

Environmental protection is a practice of protecting the natural environment on individual, organizational or governmental levels, for the benefit of both the natural environment and humans. Due to the pressures of excessive population and eminent technology, the biophysical environment is being degraded. For environmental protection to become a reality, it is important for societies to develop each of these areas that, together, will inform and drive environmental decisions

Reclaimed water or recycled water, is former wastewater that is treated to remove solids and impurities, and used in sustainable landscaping irrigation, to recharge groundwater aquifers, to meet commercial and industrial water needs, and for drinking. The purpose of these processes is sustainability and water conservation, rather than discharging the treated water to surface waters such as rivers and oceans.
