Somy webcam recently stopped working, I'm guessing after an update, as it was functioning not too long ago but, I always had it covered up unless I was using it which was very rarely. I've tried every method given on this topic I've come across but to no avail. It wasn't actually showing up in the device manager at first & then I discovered it was hidden for some reason, I tried to update the driver but it said it was up-to-date, then I tried uninstalling it(as there was no disable option) & rebooting it, as I was informed that this would make the com recognise the webcam wasn't operating & reinstall it again, but now it's not even hidden & I can't find the driver for it anywhere. I have a HP Notebook 14 - bs which has a HP TrueVision HD camera integrated above the screen. The camera isn't recognised in the settings section & it gives this error code which I've tried to resolve but the solution doesn't work for me. There's no updates I've missed neither. I've tried to find the drivers on this site for my model but they're not anywhere to be seen.... any advice would be great guys
Hey Erico, thanks for the reply but I still didn't have any joy following the solution given on that thread, well the link for the windows 10 solution. They recommended installing youcam & then using that to rediscover the webcam but when I installed it it had the same error message as if there's no cam installed on my laptop. If I can just get the official driver for this integrated webcam I'm sure it would work but I can't find it anywhere, do you have any ideas where I can locate it?
Hey, so there's nothing to see in the device manager anymore. I've heard that there's a possibility it could have disconnected but I imagine that's quite unlikely. As far as I've seen there's been no update to the integrated webcam for a while & I don't know exactly when it stopped working... There have been many windows updates recently but I haven't a clue which could've disabled the cam. Why is it not possible to just reinstall the driver for it? Surely that'd be the easiest solution
I just ran the test for my Spectre x360-13-ap00690nd ultrabook. It provided a pass ID result result and webcam serial number. The test is saved in the test logs that can be accessed in the main menu of the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI utility menu.
Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. The trick is to remain patient, please. Please note that I am not overloading you with a lot of troubleshooting steps.

I just uploaded my true vision driver for windows 10 and after testing the driver seems to be working, but I get an error that the camera cannot be detected. The problem could be with the antivirus software or that the camera is not working properly. I am on a envy hp laptop. What can I do to resolve? Thanks
I decided to use face recognition for my PC and found that the Face Recognition option is unavailable with the message Windows Hello could not find a compatible camera. After digging on previous posts here, I learned that Windows Hello needs to check depth and that is for security to make sure that a picture of the owner cannot be held against the camera to gain illegal access to the computer. Now back to my problem, the camera is HP Truevision HD, why is windows telling me that, is it a driver issue or a windows update issue or my camera does not have the required infrared tech, I just need clarifications because sites online suggest that I install a new driver, Thank you for your help.
and never had any problems. Since version 2.4.6 though, opening my cam fails and isOpened() always returns false. When I downgrade to 2.4.5 it works again. Also loading a video with 2.4.6 works, so the reason seems to be the combination of 2.4.6 and my webcam. I also tried to open the cam with the constructor. cv::VideoCapture vcap(CV_CAP_ANY); There is also no other camera connected, so CV_CAP_ANY should work as it did with version 2.4.5
I'm using Kubuntu 12.04 and Logitech C270 USB HD Webcam. The camera worked by plug & play, so i guess some standard drivers are used. If someone can explain me how, I would check which driver is used ;)
Same problem with my laptop camera. I am using ubuntu 13.04 and my laptop's embedded camera (uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device HP Truevision HD (0bda:58d8). I have also tried a Logitech UVC camera but doesn't work either.
My original problem ist different. The cam doesn't block at cv>>frame, but can't even be opened.Nevertheless I tried to rebuild Opencv 2.4.6 yesterday with different options. None of them did fix my problem, but at one point I also got a connection to my camera (the light of my webcam was green), but I then experienced the same problem as you did: grabbing simply blocked anything alse.
i meet it too.and i find the reason.the camera can't open in its first time. And you can use loops to open it .you may find it return false first time and return True after that. Hope that can help you

I've had around 6/7 users contact me regarding their camera freezing when doing a video call on Teams. During the ringing stage the camera works fine but as soon as the person they are ringing joins, the user's camera then freezes. You can hear them fine but the camera is just frozen. The person's camera they have called works fine though and doesn't freeze.
I have tried uninstalling the in built camera & driver on the laptop & then re-installing, this has worked on a few occasions but then the users report it has frozen again. I have also tried uninstalling Teams & re-installing but this hasn't resolved the issue either. I've checked for any driver updates relating to the camera but it's all up to date.
All of my users who are using their webcam with Teams have MS accounts. They are all set as admin on their respective computers. All of the users but one have no problems with their webcam and Teams.
Ik discovered the same problem myself and one off my customers called today with the same issue. One off them is using a MacBook and one off them is using Microsoft Surface 3. Since the message has been read more than 1300 times, I think many more people are experiencing the same problem.
I've tried this but still no help. My laptop camera is working perfectly during all the Teams meeting. I also have a SOLO Spark USB document camera that I use to show students drawings as I talk them through it. It worked perfectly last Wednesday but yesterday and today the USB document camera freezes are a couple of seconds. A warning pops up to say the camera has stopped working, try plugging it in and out.
If Teams video is freezing right after connecting a call, then I've had great success with rolling back the driver for the Integrated Camera in Device Manager. This has worked even when it was an external webcam attached to the computer.
For @Martin390 where Teams video works but the USB document camera doesn't, I'd recommend looking for the external camera's device driver in Device Manager under Cameras or Imaging devices and roll back the driver. There's a good chance that some update threw a tilt in it's operation.
On a side-note, for people with other Teams video problems of lagging and freezing but not necessarily right from the moment they connect a call, there's one more area to check. Go to %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams\Cache and delete everything there. Teams cache seems to fill up quickly and can significantly slow down the app, most notably impacting video quality.
I use external USB webcams that since I installed Teams, they freeze every few seconds everywhere. Not only on Teams. This is the second time it happens, different computer and different webcams just after I install Teams and log in.
Camera freezes instantly after the call ist started. I can fix this problem by starting the Apple "PhotoBooth" app, but this isn't a good workaround.
We definetely need the Microsoft Support to help us with this.
I have the same problem and noticed it always freezes when I receive a notification that I got another message sent. I am on Mac and when I get a new message, I get a bubble notification for a few seconds. The interesting part is that my video freezes only when the notification disappear.
