Hi John and Everyone

Just to say that Alun and I both really liked Priscilla. There were a lot of moments when it felt incredibly uncomfortable because of her age when they began their relationship, but both leads were incredible. And the fact that we felt the creepiness of it all perhaps indicates how well made it was and with great casting. We both felt that Jacob Elordi was a much better Elvis than Austin Butler, and Cailee Spaeny absolutely commanded your attention when on screen (which was through most of the film). What did the rest of the audience think? Sorry we couldn't stay for the discussion!

John, I see there are quite a few interesting Monday night films on the website now, which is great! When you get a chance, please could we have an updated list of who's introducing each film so we can all see any gaps for volunteering :- )

Hi Julie,

Mostly good, one person didn't like it all. Dominic threw some light on the link between Graceland and Southern plantations which I didn't pick up on.
Some thought the character was a bit slight and things were monotonous - which may have been a conscious artistic decision? Her early life was repetitive as she was with Elvis and his 'boys' just about all the time, and she wasn't encouraged to make friends or have a job. I was going to mention it in the intro but thought it might have been made clear in the film (sort of), Priscilla met Elvis when she was 14 but they didn't consummate their relationship til their wedding night (by which time she was 21). Agreed Jacob Elordi was terrific as Elvis, and way better than Austin Butler.

I was just about to post about the new films so I've done that in a separate post.

Thanks,

John

Hi John
That's really interesting (re: Graceland and the plantations) and I can see how Elvis and his boys being around in lots of scenes became a bit monotonous! I read about her being 14 - I think I might read the autobiography.
