Hello Mon Bike Club!

Please see, attached, notice of a public meeting that may be of interest to you NEXT WEEK on Tuesday, June 2nd, 4:30-6:30pm. Our West Virginia Department of Highways and our local Metropolitan Planning Organization are hosting two drop-in workshop sessions at Morgantown's Met Theater on High Street for:

  1. A Statewide Bicycle & Pedestrian Plan and
  2. The Greenbelt Complete Streets Feasibility Study

The former will be the State's first combined Bike/Walk plan, and the first major update to their statewide bicycle planning since 2017. I am not familiar with any statewide dedicated Pedestrian Planning that has been performed in modern times.

The latter is our region's latest and greatest attempt to incorporate complete streets designs and philosophies into major corridor investments. The study focuses on portions of the West Run Road and Van Voorhis Road corridors, and it explores how imminent roadway improvements could be complementary to our desired urban fabric and support future greenbelt connectivity. We hope it will serve as a model for future complete streets planning in Greater Morgantown.

I'm very excited that this meeting is being held at the Metropolitan Theater - a space well connected to our entire transportation system and perfectly suited for meetings of this stature. Hope you all can help spread the word and join us!

Thanks,
Drew

P.s. If you're a member of other groups of similar interest, you'll probably receive multiple invites - apologies in advance for the email clutter!
