Good afternoon all,

Sharing some trail updates regarding area trail storm damage. Please be aware and share

TOMORROW- Wednesday, June 18, Morgantown Department of Public Works will be clearing a landslide on the first mile of the Deckers Creek Rail-Trail between the Greenmont Bridge and Valley Crossing. Crew will be working with large equipment from 7AM-3PM. Please avoid this work area for your safety and the safety of the work crew! We hope to have trail cleared in one day. Disruptions to work can extend the time for the work to be completed.

Good news- the monster oak tree that came down between Seneca Center and Arboretum on the Caperton / Mon River Rail-Trail is now cleared. Thanks to Mountain Valley Resources for being able to get it cleared from the trail without damaging the pavement.

Until the end of June- Contractor, Mountain Valley Resources, will be working on a few sections of the Mon River Trail- north of Uffington at a rock slide (mile 13.1) and in the Hildebrand Lock and Dam area of the Mon River Trail (mile 16-18.5). Please avoid these work areas if possible. If you are in these areas, make sure equipment operator sees you!

Regional Trail updates

The West Fork River Trail near Monongah is CLOSED with landslide across the rail-trail.  Check in with MCPARC for updates.

The Cheat Lake Rail-Trail had the south trail closed due to landslides and down trees. It is OPEN again. Swim beach remains closed due to high e-coli levels.
