Hello MonBikeClub and County Roads Cyclists,

My name is Anna Tang and I am the Bicycle Friendly America Program Specialist here at the League of American Bicyclists. I am writing to bring our event to your attention and invite you, your fellow bike advocates, and folks in your networks to join us in Philadelphia at Temple University for our secondĀ Bike Advocacy WorkshopĀ thatĀ launched earlier this year.Ā

I am also writing to ask if you can share this event with your network and followers. We have aĀ media toolkit you can use hereĀ with drafted social media,Ā email, and other marketing blurbs.

The workshop offers people the opportunity to be certified as a League Cycling Advocate, network with their peers, and learn from leaders in the bike advocacy movement.Ā

This Bike Advocacy Workshop will take place at Temple University in Philadelphia, July 24-26!Ā

Workshop Content & Format

The workshop will be in-person and conducted over three days - an evening, full workshop day, and half workshop day. The first day consists of some introductions, an evening happy hour, and a group ride. The second day includes a full day of training, group rides, and happy hour. The third day wraps up with a half-day of training.Ā You can view the schedule here.Ā

The workshop will cover advocacy basics such as the history of bike advocacy, how to get organized, effective political engagement, strategy, tactics and making the case, coalition building, policy basics, funding, storytelling, equity and mobility justice, and more. The content of the workshop will involve group work, happy hours, group bike rides, as well as individual self-guided readings which will be given to all participants ahead of the workshop.

By the end of the workshop and accompanying readings, our goal is to have proficient emerging advocates who can take their training home to implement the ideas, strategies, and practical applications in their communities and feel empowered to build their bike movement at the local level.

The Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia will join usĀ for the Bike Advocacy Workshop! Registration is limited soĀ sign up todayĀ and join other bike advocates and guest speakers to learn about how you can be a more effective advocate in your community!Ā

āž”ļøĀ Register today via Eventbrite here.

Take care,

Anna
