Mon River Rail-Trail:

Morgantown city limits (mile 11.5) to Uffington (mile 13.5)

Monday, Aug. 18-Friday, Aug. 22

TODAY- Monday, August 18, Contractor Triton Construction will be upgrading culverts and restoring trail surface on the Mon River Rail-Trail in miles 11.5 (city limits) and Uffington Trailhead (13.5). There is no way around when trail is torn up for culvert installation. Crew will be working with large equipment and typically from 6AM-6PM. Please avoid this work area for your safety and the safety of the work crew. We hope to have work completed in one week but this is weather dependent. Disruptions to work can extend the time for the work to be completed.

Thank you for your patience as we continue to repair and restore the rail-trails after the severe storms over the past several weeks.

Trip planning- Uffington Trailhead and the DNR Uffington Public Stream Access site with new rail-trail connector at mile 13.5 are both open to park and divert around work area. From there you can head south towards Prickett's Fort State Park (mile 29).

WHEN BAD STORMS HAPPEN TO GOOD TRAILS!

MRTC is undertaking a membership campaign at a time when we need it the most. Severe storms and torrential rain has resulted in numerous washouts, landslides, and down trees, some that could only be removed with large equipment. As we work to restore the rail-trails, we need your support! Membership donations help us restore the rail-trail after damaging storms plus fund the “keep the lights on” needs of our organization.

Thank you to those who are already supporting our organization and the rail-trails you love! You can donate at- https://montrails.org/donate-3/
