New Mon River Rail-Trail Trailhead
at DNR Uffington Monongahela River Access
A new
formal trailhead and
connector path to the
trail is now OPEN at
the WV Division of
Resources Uffington
Monongahela River
Access site. An
agreement between the
WV Division of Natural
Resources and the Mon
River Trails
Conservancy to make
this location a
multi-use recreational
parking area led the
way to MRTC building a
new connector path
between the parking
lot and rail-trail.
This spot expands
trail parking by over
20 spaces. Trail
parking is still
available at the
nearby Uffington
Trailhead on Round
Bottom Road that
accommodates
approximately 8-9
cars. Both trailheads
are located at trail
mile 13.5 of the Mon
River Rail-Trail.
The
multi-use trailhead
provides options for
people to boat, fish,
paddle, and now access
the rail-trail to
hike, bike, run, and
cross-country ski. A
boat ramp into Booths
Creek near its
convergence with the
Monongahela River
accommodates river
access for small
motorized boats,
kayaks, and canoes.
With many habitats in
the area, it is a
great place for
birding and wildlife
viewing. Courtesy Tip– please park away from the boat
ramp if you are
there to access the
rail-trail.
