crazy rendering at low zoom levels

I have the windows binary, and australian map data.

at low zoom levels, the long country roads seem to be jagged, and badly rendered,  When zooming in they clean up.  is this a known bug?

Is it somewhat similar to http://code.google.com/p/monav/issues/detail?id=53 ?

It seems that the QTileRenderer has a bug on lower zoom levels. Since
it's maintainer does not seem to update it anymore, I might have to
take a look at it *g*.
