Boulder Valley Schools is flirting with the idea of banning sugary
treats from the classroom for things like birthday and holiday
celebrations. They have several good reasons - some kids have
allergies, some parents can't afford bringing in treats for 30 kids on
their own student's birthday, and cupcakes don't really go with their
message of living a healthy lifestyle and providing healthier foods in
their lunches.

not sure how I feel about it. On the one hand, it feels nannyish to
me, and over-controlling. On the other, I have seen instances of
parents WAY overdoing it during a holiday celebration where there were
so many sugary treats that it was ridiculous.
What do you guys think?
