One of the great benefits of Monarch is the CU Succeed program.  I didn't know anything about it when my oldest daughter was going into high school, but I soon found out about it when she started taking AP classes!  CU Succeed is a program where the Monarch teachers are certified also by CU to be professors to teach the same class at Monarch.  So, for instance, if your student takes AP Calculus, he or she can also sign up for CU Succeed in Calculus.  The catch is that you have to sign up for it just like you do a regular college class - before you know what your grade is going to be.  The grade that you get in that class is the grade that you'll have on your CU Denver transcript.  This ended up being a huge benefit for my daughter because she is better at staying current in a class, doing the homework, taking the tests, and getting an A than she is at taking a huge, comprehensive test at the end of a class.  As a result, she was able to get college credit that transferred for all of her AP classes.  She didn't have to worry about which colleges would take a 3 or 4 on the AP tests; she just had the credit.  In addition, it turns out that there isn't even an AP test for Calculus III, but there is a CU Succeed credit for it.  From all of this, she ended up entering college with enough college credits to skip her science requirements and to have only two math classes required to have her minor in math.

CU Succeed ended up being a huge advantage for her.
