we attended open enrollment night this past tuesday and had a question and was told if we post our question here we'd possibly get an answer.  we open enrolled and got into Monarch k-8 a few years back.  how many kids typically get accepted at Monarch High School thru open enrollment annually---and how many kids get rejected thru open enrollment?  like we said, we have had such a great expirence at Monarch k-8 and would hate our daughter having to leave her friends as we move into High School.  any idea of our chances in getting in?

Hi Jim,

From what I understand right now, your chances are very, very good at getting in for next year.  Monarch High just underwent some construction that has allowed them to add classrooms and room in the cafeteria.  However, as I am certainly no expert on this, I will forward your question to either Dr. Anderson or an Assistant Principal and get you a definitive answer on this.

I'm glad you had such a nice experience at MK-8!  Both of my daughters went there, too, and then went on to MHS.  I understand your concerns; 6 years ago, when my oldest daughter was open enrolling into MHS, I heard a rumor that only 10 students got in.

I'll post the answer to your question from an administator soon.

Thanks!

Hi Jim,

Here is Dr. Anderson's reply:

The chances for getting into Monarch are very good! We have been growing in recent years, but we are not near capacity especially with the addition of our new classrooms.  We can accept a Freshmen class up to 400 students and still have room for an additional 200 students.

Thanks for asking!

Jerry
