Sommtrue to its name, is a haven for wine lovers. Led by sommelier star Narimantas Miežys, and supported by a team of talented young sommelier champions, it offers wine and food pairing dinners, shareable small plates, and top-notch churros. Their achievements are certainly something to boast about.

Internationally, Užgavėnės is called Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day, as delicious pancakes are eaten all day long to ensure health and strength for the whole year. This year, the culinary heritage including sugary yeast pancakes is expanded with a new tradition, donuts, to which a first-time-ever festival will be designated during the same time.


The Donut Festival takes place between February 1-14 in Vilnius Old Town. The community of Stiklo Quartier, known for its creative ideas, has decided to see off winter with a unique feast of donuts, coinciding with the festive spirit of Užgavėnės. This new celebration marks a creative twist on the traditional Užgavėnės cuisine: the Festival features all kinds of international Mardi Gras treats, from Spanish churros to beigels and pancakes with caviar.


The Kaziukas Fair. This Fair occurs on one of the first weekends of March, marking the arrival of spring. This grand city event traces its roots back to the canonisation of Lithuanian Grand Duke Casimir in the early 17th century.


The fair is also renowned for wickerwork, showcasing baskets of various sizes and styles, woodwork, and other traditional crafts including Easter palms which can be found everywhere, as the city is preparing for the Easter celebration.


Hey food lovers, did you know, that Lietuvos Gastronomijos Savaite is happening this week? We tried one of the restaurants, which are participating in this initiative. We went to @el_mercado_vilnius. I was amazed by the idea combining all four dishes, of El Mercado special menu.


This month, Vilnius is set for a lively transition from winter to spring with the traditional Užgavėnės celebration, known as Shrove Tuesday, the new Donut Festival in the Stiklo Quarter, and the 400-year-old Kaziukas Fair.


Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, invites visitors this month with a creative mix of spring-celebrating festivities: ancient traditions of the Lithuanian Shrove Tuesday (Užgavėnės), together with the newly introduced Donut Festival and traditional beginning of spring event Kaziukas Fair of arts, crafts, food and music.


The Donut Festival takes place on February 1st-14th in the Vilnius Old Town. Although the selection of sweets is not extensive, it is constantly changing, and each choice is guaranteed. What can you expect? For classic lovers, the sweet Pavlova with sour cream and even more sour berries is an unquestionable choice. Those who prefer lighter desserts should try the white chocolate mousse with limoncello gelato, lemon cream, and fermented rhubarb.


Operating in the dark basements of Užupis, Black Lodge Cafe Speakeasy is a unique caf drawing inspiration from the secret bars that thrived during the Prohibition era in the United States. Here, you can expect everything you haven't experienced yet!



As you step through the doors, you'll be greeted by the black lodge, instantly transporting you to the legendary town of Twin Peaks. Inside, you'll find just one table and three seats, and the menu offers a single drink and dessert. However, this dessert is worth a special mention as it's the most delicious cherry pie recognised in the city. So, along with the Instagram-worthy environment, you can indulge in the silky sweet berries, paired with a cup of black coffee, creating unforgettable flavours.



The best part is that you can enjoy this dessert not only within the walls of the black lodge. On various occasions, the owners also bake the pie for take-out.


Mykolo 4 is the only restaurant-bistro in Lithuania that fosters the idea of bourgeois Vilnius cuisine and aims to introduce guests to the high culinary traditions that existed before the Second World War. The menu at this place delights food enthusiasts with cherished dishes of old noblemen and tempts them with unique desserts.



Have you ever heard that in the 19th century, it was customary for the people of Vilnius to enjoy coffee, liqueur, fruits, and ice cream after lunch or dinner? Sue's Indian Raja is an Indian restaurant in Vilnius that welcomes guests not only with rich and memorable flavours or exotic surroundings but also with the breathtaking views of Cathedral Square.



The restaurant's menu is vibrant and diverse, offering authentic meat and seafood dishes as well as traditional choices for vegetarians or vegans.



Moreover, Sue's Indian Raja is one of the few restaurants in Vilnius where you can indulge in truly exotic desserts: from Gulab Jamun soaked in syrup and orange Kulfi ice cream to mango or lemon Lassi cocktails.
