Hey Moms!
I have the cold weather blues and have been thinking of starting a DI team for Alex and Carina. If you have never heard of DI you can check it out here:
Mike and I have volunteered as appraisers for this organization for many years and LOVE what they do and how they do it!
Basically kids have a couple months to prepare a solution to a "Challenge" and then have 6-minutes to present it to a group or family, friends, and "appraisers" at the a regional competition (this year - March 10th in Oakland Mills) with other teams.
At our kids age, it is non-competitive (rising stars) and there are very few rules, so basically they just get to have fun putting together a short show with their friends, practicing it, and then preforming in front of an audience.
I am not sure that I am actually going to do this yet - I need to run it by Mike and see if the kids want to, but, of course, I am last minute and the registration deadline in tomorrow (Sat), so I thought I'd see if there is any interest.
I would like at least 2-3 more kids in addition to Alex and Carina to form a team (max is 7). There is a registration fee which would end up at about $30-40 per kid depending on how many people are interested. In addition, I might ask for help with materials for props and costumes.
I would have "practices" at my house, most likely Monday evenings 5 - 6:30 ish from next week until the competition and would be fine with you dropping off and picking up, although it'd be good to have at least one other parent stay to help out each week.
Thoughts?
Andrea
