Chores and Allowance

Sophia keeps asking about chores and allowance recently . Do any of you do either ?

Hey Vivienne!

I’ve recently started giving my girls a “paycheck” each week.  They have to work for their paycheck just like I do.  I have them do little things through the week (set the table, clean up their dishes, feed the dog/cat) and then on the weekend they have their bigger chores.  Emily will vacuum, take sheets off her bed and put them in the washer, put her clean clothes away, dusts and clean her bathroom sink/counter.  Allison cleans her sink/counter, puts her clothes away, cleans the mirrors and windows, and maybe another job I can think of.  We haven’t written down their jobs, it’s kind of a fluid thing for us, but they really seem to handle it well.  

I give Emily $5, and she splits it into Give/Save/Spend.  I give Allison and it all goes into one jar.  Next year we will move Allison up to the $5 paycheck.
