Over the past ten years angels have emerged as an important source of funding for startups. Individual angels as well as networks have supported enterprises with as little as Rs 25 lakhs going all the way up to a Rs 6 crores. Many hundreds, if not thousands, of wealthy individuals have become angel investors and many more are joining every day. What does this mean for entrepreneurs? Do angels approach investing differently from VCs? Are individual angels different from angel networks? Are electronic (online) angel networks different from traditional angel networks? How do angels see the investment climate in today’s environment where many startups are facing a correction in their markets? Get answers to all these questions from the angels themselves. Prof. Sabarinathan G
Prof. Sabarinathan G is an Associate Professor in the Finance and Control area at IIM Bangalore. Prior to his joining IIM Bangalore, he was a Director on the Board of the Indian subsidiary of CDC Capital Partners, now known as Actis, and has served as Director on the boards of over thirty-five companies and early-stage technology businesses. He is also a member of the Investment Committee of the KITVEN Fund.He is a member of two high level standing committees of BIRAC
He has a PhD from the National Law School of India University, a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from IIM Bangalore, and a BSc in Chemistry from Loyola College, Madras University.
