Stateof Decay 2 is a game about zombie survival in which you will often find yourself scouring the wasteland in search of valuable resources. The game features a fairly large world populated by survivors and groups known as enclaves. Along the way, there will be a lot of random travelling to and fro between different locations to complete fetch quests and find resources so as to build your base. Although some of the tasks in the game can be very tedious, this guide is here to help you out so that you can make your way through this game in the most efficient way possible.
Being a survival game, collecting resources is one of the primary aspects of the game. Try and make trips for resource collection efficient by carrying a much as you can in the trunk of your car before you make the return journey to your base.
Fire-crackers are very useful items that can be used as decoys when trying to escape from zombies. Make sure you carry these whenever possible as it will end up saving your life more than once, or will help you get out of unnecessary encounters.
When you start the game, you can re-roll for three random survivors so as to get ones with rare skills such as Chemistry or Gardening. These will be of great use to you, so keep re-rolling characters until you get the ones with the best skills.
Allying with local enclaves is a great way to get some benefits like extra storage and unique status effects. You can trade at the enclaves to earn influence and also hire survivors from these places. Additionally, you can recruit a member from the enclave, although this will cause the enclave to disappear. Try and help these enclaves when they ask you for supplies, as you will be paid back with some rewards later on.
Textbooks can be used to learn skills, but they are also a great way to earn influence, and you can do so by selling them to traders. Make sure you pick up any textbooks you can find along your adventures!
Building a strong base is of utmost importance in the game. From the very start, you will have to work to ensure that your base is equipped with proper facilities and that there are enough survivors to manage it. Your base also provides you with Influence points which is the in-game currency.
There are different kinds of bases you can find throughout each map area, with them ranging from small sizes to massive ones. Having larger bases will offer more facilities and space to house more survivors. The very first base is free, but the other four types require Influence points to unlock. These four types of bases are listed below:
Characters may sometimes suffer from trauma in the game which will prevent them from fully recovering health, and it will also affect their mood. You can find what kind of trauma a character suffers from through the Community tab. To fix this, you will need an infirmary. As your infirmary facility gets better, you can improve trauma in more efficient ways. For example, if your infirmary level is at least 2, then characters will automatically recover from trauma as they spend time at the infirmary. At any time, you can heal your active character if you have at least 3 medicine in storage, so make sure you always have enough medical supplies around.
Among the many things like hunger and thirst which you will have to manage, you will notice that your character also gets sleepy. When this happens, you will have to ensure that the character gets enough sleep so as to get rid of fatigue. If you have beds, then characters will recover faster from fatigue. Additionally, you can also temporarily fix fatigue by drinking coffee and energy drinks.
There are five major skills a character can have although whether characters get the fifth skill is completely random. The fifth skill can be extremely useful skills like Mechanics, Chemistry, or some others. The four other skills are listed below. Each of the skills will level up as you perform actions associated with the skill.
To keep your community happy, form alliances with enclaves and carry out some beneficial trade deals. This will earn you some much needed Influence which will be necessary to ensure that your community stays happy. You should also always be collecting resources and bringing them back to base so as to make it grow. Additionally, clearing plague hearts and infestations is also a surefire way to ensure that your community remains happy.
Finally, you will have to upgrade your base so that your community can grow into a larger one. You will have to have enough resources to support a large community, so make sure you build necessary facilities such as hydroponics or Farms.
Note: Please use the following cheats at your own discretion. Using cheats online may lead to an immediate ban. GamingBolt or its staff members are not responsible for any problems arising due to their use.
Additionally, you can refer to this cheat table which will help you alter a number of things such as unlimited Stamina, infinite Car Fuel, Fatigue, Health, and more. These should make the game significantly easier for you. You can check out the video below for more information regarding the cheats.
At this point you should now have a good idea of how the world works and the mechanics of combat, so it is time to cover how to give yourself a boost - and then work through the mission structure for the second tutorial play.
An important thing you need to understand is that this is not really a story of you vs zombies - it is a story of You vs Plague Hearts! You see the Plague Hearts are basically what controls when the heavy Zeds arrive. Until you slay that first Plague Heart, you are not going to be seeing any of the really dangerous Zombies - but once you DO kill it, you will!
The best way you can help yourself is to - with as little delay as possible - get the story to the point where you are being prompted to visit the House with the Slide to talk to the Neighbor. THAT is what triggers the Plague Heart Mission!
Once you reach that point you want to basically NOT flag that mission - and continue looting buildings as rapidly as you can, building a huge surplus of as many different Rucksacks as you can. Store the ones that are overfill in vehicles parked outside your Base.
Keep the supplies for your Base at near top, and be especially sure to EXPAND your Base and UPGRADE its facilities! Basically this is a grace period in which Morale has less than usual impact on your game and your community. But once you kill that first Plague Heart, everything - EVERYTHING - changes.
By doing it this way you will have basically created a lot of breathing room in terms of resources AND you will have obtained a lot of Mods and items you can trade for Influence Points with the other Sruvivore Enclaves you will meet soon.
In addition to all that as you explore the area on this side of the map - and use the Survey Points - you will discover that there are some highly desireable Outposts to be had! In particular the Bridge Fort that is to the south and west of your Base - THAT is very valuable indeed as it includesthe following:
So basically it grants us additional beds and parking and the ability to build some of the facilities we had been unable to build before! It does require x4 members of our community and 550 Influence Points to claim though.
That said, if you have not figured this out yet, that mission to meet the neighbor we have been not doing? It is NOT going anywhere! While OTHER neighbors will leave town if we are slow to visit them, that one is part of the scripted story so we can go ahead and explore - and loot - as much of the map as we want AND expand our Base and Outposts as much as we want withh no penalty applied!
When you arrive in the Foothills you will trigger the second tutorial - this runs until you have killed the first Plague Heart - at which point you are thought to be sufficiently skilled to be able to play from there! This is that mission structure:
This iis the first of the second half of the tutorial missions and to make it easier what you want to do is check the back of the ute to see if there is a can of fuel inside. If there is, use that to refuel and then drive to the house marked on the map, and clear it out as per the steps above. Once you have done so you will get a brief CS of your character radioing the Doc and then you can claim it!
Now that we have revealed the nearby locations, open the map and examine them. Essentially you want to target locations that have the Stacked Boxes Icon (That marks locations that may contain rucksacks filled with Building Materials - or simply "Materials") as that is what we require to buld the Infirmary at our new base!
The Materials Rucksack will be placed in the Rucksack Slot on your character. You then need to RTB and either load it into Storage via the boot of your vehicle or carry it upstairs and load it using the Storage Management Menu (NOT the Storage Crate Interface). When you reach the second level of the Base the proper menu will be highlighted by an orange Rucksack Icon.
Once you've deposited the rucksack with the materials in it, you need to open the Base Menu and select a vacant Small Outdoors Spot, and then select the Infirmary option from the build menu and begin the build. The construction process will take 6 minutes and requires 3 labor. Bear in mind that when building or upgrading facilities at your Base, you need to do them ONE at a time. As doing more than one project creates too much noise and thus attracks Zed Attacks!
Basically this is a chance for you to add additional rucksacks of all types to your Base Storage - something that is always a good idea. But before you add additional supplies of the same types, check the current amounts you have in Storage so you don't over-fill them! When you have more than the storage cap, the excess resources degrade, and of you leave the overfilled condition too long you actually LOSE the extra resources!
An easy fix for this is to use the Rucksack Menu in Storage to fill a Rucksack of the overflow item, then store that rucksack in the boot of your vehicle. Rucksacks stored in boots do NOT degrade! This is why you should try to add a second and even third vehicle to your collection as soon as possible - so you have additional overflow storage in a non-degrading form!
