Firstlysorry to be a pain and take up your time. I'm looking to update the BIOS, I've picked up an old 8200 Elite SFF. The version it is running is really old from what I can gather; v02.15. Upon looking through the forums I can see that the most recent responses and answers lead to; v02.28. Also I understand that .29 version has problems with the restart hanging etc. What I am looking to find out is if there are any users that have v2.32?? If so, how does that hold up?

I also strongly advise you that if you want to update the BIOS regardless of what version, to use the F10 Setup BIOS flash method, since the Windows based BIOS flash method was not written to be run on W10.

The story goes like this: I bought myself a HP Compaq 8200, couldn't get my videocard i installed to work in it. Sent it to get installed by a proffessional, they got it to work and explained that the BIOS just needed to be updated. Well now i ran into the exact same problem, but i can't update the BIOS, because my operating system (Windows 10) isn't shown in the "Version" list, and the link under it says this: " If you do not see the version of your operating system (OS) listed, HP does not have any downloadable software or drivers for your product." The guy who got the video card to work had to get the BIOS update from somewhere, right?

I think i figured it out. What had been happening, was that every time i loaded into windows, it saw that the gpu was missing drivers, so it automatically tried installing them for me, not detecting that those drivers are not correct / are defective.

Thank you, i could update my BIOS that way but it sadly didnt fix the problem. This is really frustrating because it's the second time this has happened since i bought the GPU and im not looking forwards to getting it fixed at the same place again.

They tested the card on other computers and it worked, don't think the motherboard is broken either. As for which slot, i think it was in the white one, but it was performing just like it should / would, atleast that's how it seemed to me.

EDIT: It seems like i forgot to mention one thing, before the card broke, i put my pc to sleep mode and went to sleep myself, then when i woke up in the morning, the computer was, for some reason, on. That's when i realized that there was no video and that i could only use the pc without the gpu. Another thing is that when i hadn't taken it out yet, the pc actually got to the windows loading screen, but right when the keyboard and mouse switched on and off (loading drivers, i think) the screen just went blank.

The computer booted, seemed okay for a few minutes, then, for some reason went into a 800x640 resolution or something like that and i couldn't use my mouse or keyboard or see anything else than my desktop and taskbar. This is the exact same thing that happened before i got it installed at the shop i bought it from, at this point im ready to just give up and throw this thing in the bin and find a new gpu, i had a GT 640 that worked right off the bat, all i had to do was install the drivers and it worked perfectly.

I've not seen or heard anything from Corsair regarding the Intel overheating issue. This machine comes with an Asus Z790-P Wifi MB currently with bios 9011, however on the Asus website, there is a bios update labeled 1656, that resets baseline on the Intel Core i9-14900K CPU. Question - should I update? Odd to go to a bios with such as low number from 9011 to 1656. Just trying to avoid baking the CPU. Currently, not overclocking as it's plenty fast enough for now.

I recently posted about this in the Pre-Built forums. I don't want to double post on the forums so I'll just bump yours. Hopefully Corsair updates their Bios soon as we cannot use ASUS's Bios update on Corsair's prebuilt OEM motherboards.

I bought a i8200 in May 2024. I'm having the overheating issues as well. I've tried everything in the BIOS to make it stable. The default settings work the best but still it keeps shutting down periodically. It's driving my nuts. I just purchased an MSI Z790 Carbon WIFI II motherboard. MSI recommends not changing the BIOS setting due to the i9 14900 overheating issue. But they have made some BIOS updates to fix the problem. Apparently this second generation motherboard addresses the overheating issue. The first gen. overheated like the ASUS.

Does sound work? I installed Qubes 4.0 on a Desktop with Realtek ALC262 and the sound card ist not recognized. The Compaq 8200 has the ALC261 codec, according to the specs. The onboard sound not working implies that one USB slot will the occupied by an external sound card.

Salvaged a HP Compaq 8200 Elite Small Form Factor (SFF) with an i7-2600 after seeing @dispuser5132 HCL and remarks last year. The 32GB RAM capability, tpm, and coreboot with cleaned ME success report was intriguing. Discovered HP provided pretty good technical documentation, parts list, disassembly instructions, and service manual for the SFF.

The HCL reports success with Coreboot 4.14 + SeaBios 1.14 and I know coreboot 4.14 was released on May 10th, 2021. Does anyone know where to find a known-working coreboot config and commit hash for the SFF? Where should I be looking besides status report for coreboot boards ?

So I also bave the hp 8200 cmt (2400 name somewhere) with i5 i bavnt been it latly even though its my only pc because every time i manage to install an os it stops working after first reboot and if it makes it one reboot for sure it stops booting by 2nd or 3rd. Is the coreboot firmware in question installable through the bio update option in computersetup/bios on this pc. Please and thank you in advance for any assistance.

Doing some planning and preperations for a 3PAR 8200 OS and firmware upgrade. I have checked the upgrade matrix but all is not entirely clear for me as it seems with the upgrade matrix that I can go directly to 3.3.2 GA and then to latest 3.3.2 MU1 + patches, this means skipping the rest of the outstanding 3.3.1 MU versions and patches.

1. Regarding your question about skipping the outstanding 3.3.1 MU versions and patches,

it's important to follow the recommended upgrade path provided by HPE to ensure a smooth and supported upgrade process.

While it may be possible to directly upgrade from 3.3.1 (MU2) to 3.3.2 GA and then to 3.3.2.159 (MU1),

it is always best practice to review the HPE 3PAR upgrade matrix and release notes for your specific configuration.

2. The upgrade matrix will provide detailed guidance on the supported upgrade paths and any prerequisites or considerations for each version.

It's essential to ensure compatibility with your existing hardware, software components, and any other dependencies in your environment.

I understand your concern about interpreting the upgrade matrix correctly.

While the upgrade matrix provides guidance on supported upgrade paths, it's important to note that it may not explicitly mention the need to go through each intermediate OS version.

In many cases, the upgrade matrix does allow for direct upgrades between certain versions, especially if the intermediate versions do not introduce significant changes or prerequisites.

However, it's always recommended to review the release notes and consult with HPE support to ensure the smoothest and most reliable upgrade path for your specific configuration.

I'm a good user of Vogons so i did some research, but didn't find answers for my problem.

I own a Toshiba Satellite Pro SP4270 wich has a Yamaha YMF744 and everything is perfect with drivers found here or at PhilsComputer Lab :

- Sounds with soundblaster pro settings in DOS

- OPL3 in DOS

- XG wavetable under W98SE and still OPL and SB Pro sounds

But i just got a Toshiba Tecra 8200 with a Yamaha YMF754, a bit more sexier machine. So, i tried at once the drivers i used on the 4270, but they don't work. No sound at all. When launching setupds /s , it tells me everything is using IRQ 5, but nothing works.

I went on trying to understand what are the 'big' differences between the SP4270 and the Tecra 8200 , I discovered they useda different chipset. The Tecra 8200 is based upon an Intel ICH2-M 81815 it seems, so i used the modified setupds.exe for Intel ICH2 and it does produce a slightly different result, i got music working under DOS (OPL) but still no SB sound at all. Setupds now tells me that it is IRQ11 which is used, and it seems i cannot change that (?).

I'm guessing that the Satellite Pro SP4270 has the PCI/PCI / SB-Link port hardwired which is the absolute best setup possible as far as laptops and the YMF7x4 chips go. Guessing the Toshiba Tecra 8200 doesn't so you need to use DDMA.

If there is no BIOS option to change the IRQ assignment, and I really doubt there is, you will be stuck at 11. See if there is an option to disable the IRQ for the video (vga).

What, if any options in the BIOS are there to adjust IRQ assignment? Is there a setting to change the assignment from PnP to manual?

That Games can access the soundchip on irq5 you need a little program called "swapirq"

Call it with "Swapirq /i11 /i5"

Now the program routes irq5 calls by Games to Hardware irq11 and everything should work fine.
