Q. Does ICM support mmCIF?
A. ICM supports mmtf format which is the binary version of mmCIF and is much more compact and faster to parse.
The Macromolecular Transmission Format (MMTF) is a new compact binary format to transmit and store biomolecular structural data quickly and accurately. MMTF is supported in ICM and it does not have any limitation on number of atoms and is easier to use than the original PDB. You can read more about MMTF here at the PDB website.

In ICM (v3.8-5 and higher) use the command below to read in and display a mmtf file.

read pdb mmtf "3j3q"
