DELETE vs ERASE

Dear Molpro developers,

In the file handling page of the manual, the two distinct commands ERASE and DELETE look exactly the same... Do they do the same thing or is there a subtle difference between them?

In the latter case: if I need more memory but can't allocate more ressources, which one should I choose?
