I tried this also, but VMWare Fusion gets install errors during install of the VM. One thing to note is that the installer that I get from the App Store is only 22MB initially, so I had to use the workaround of running the installer and then merging the data into the installer .app (How to Download a Full Size MacOS Mojave Installer ).
After clicking Open I am presented with this message above. As you can see the App Store first searched my system and found that I already have macOS Mojave installer.app. Notice that it searches all locations, not just the Applications folder where the installer app normally is stored. It found the macOS Mojave Installer.app in a folder called test.
After checking the version number, I now know the macOS version is 10.14.0. We can find the build number inside the actual installer.app but knowing the version number is usually good enough unless you need a specific hardware build.
We are off to the races now! The first thing you will notice is that instead of downloading macOS Mojave Installer inside the App Store it opens Software Update. Software Update will search for the Installer and ask if you are sure you want to download the 6gb Mojave Installer. After clicking download you will get a new prompt for admin credentials to start the download (not to actually install yet). After the download completes you will finally have the latest macOS installer.app.
I showed you how to download the macOS installer through the Mojave Mac App store. The thing is, a better way to download the full installer exists and is called installinstallmacos.py. I was going to explain how to use installinstallmacos.py here but now realize the topic deserves a full article. I did not even get into hardware specific (Forked) builds. As you can see we have a lot to go over, so stay tuned. I will put the link here when complete.
High Sierra is no more available in Mojave App Store. You need to update the article. Also you can confirm if that is the case? Is there another possible method to download High Sierra installer?
Thanks
10.14.4 adds new changes that ARE NOT patchable by the post-install tool of Mojave Patcher v1.2.3 and older! Before updating to 10.14.4, you you will need to use the latest Mojave Patcher version to create a new installer volume, using the 10.14.4 installer app. Then, update to 10.14.4, either by installing via Software Update, or by just using the installer volume you've created to install.
With previous versions of macOS I used the createinstallmedia command without any problems. However, this time I can't use this because when I download the installer from the Mac App Store on another Mac I only get a file that is 22 MBs in size.
4) You can now deploy Mojave as necessary. Using this external USB installer lets you reformat and/or repartition the startup drive and other storage devices. You can also access built-in tools such as Terminal, Startup Disk, and Firmware Password Utility from the menus.
As I read the article that command is new under Catalina. I explained above I am still running Mojave. I want to be sure I have a Mojave installer before upgrading and optimally already installed on a partition running Mojave with Parallels Desktop before upgrading. In any case this command did not work for me on Mojave, this is the response from terminal:
The day the TidBITS article appeared I tried downloading the installers and had problems downloading the ones from the Mac App Store. I reported the screwup of the missing archived macOS installers to a senior AppleCare advisor. Sure enough, he, too could not download them from the Mac App Store. He agreed it was screwed up and reported it to engineering.
I'm using productbuild to create a .pkg installer for MacOS Mojave. I've read the schema reference for the Distribution.xml file. I am successfully using this to include a custom welcome. Therefore I know my resource path is being used correctly when I run:
If the installer could use another approach to avoid this would be great for suspicious users like me, but the attempt of performing those operations without admin privileges first and then prompting for them seems also reasonable.
Unfortunately, this is the biggest pain if you've already updated. You'll need a separate volume to boot into 10.13. Amazon and Newegg each have 120 GB SSDs for under $20 USD if you need a temporary drive to install macOS 10.13 on. (upside is you can buy a USB case and turn into a very fast USB 3.0 drive afterward or return it). You can get old versions of macOS via the Mac using DosDude1's installer if you can't access it. If you have no intention to upgrade to Mojave or already have it installed., don't worry. We won't be installing Mojave.
Fortunately, firmware flashing does not require updating in a particular order. I went from 138.0.0.0.0 to 144.0.0.0.0 without any problems. There's several avenues for this, including the Mac App store, but when I used the Mac App Store route, I didn't get the combined OS installer (The Mojave installer + all the updates to Mojave). The easiest way to obtain the final combined update for Mojave is to use Dosdude1's installer. Much like before, download the OS DosDude1's installer, even though we have supported hardware but with the patcher for 10.14.
Clarification: You do not need to use the DosDude1 installer, as you can grab the update via the App store or other sources but I found this easier. Apparently this link was posted this on MacRumors and a few posters didn't read the full instructions and suggested that I was advocating using DOSdude1 on the OS. I am not. The Mac Pro 4,1/5.1 does not need DOSDude1, so do not run the patcher on Mojave. The Patcher just happens to be extremely reliable about fetching the correct version, and skips the hassle of the App Store.
Hello, I'm trying to install tracker on MacOS 10.15 (Catalina) and can't make it work. I can see that there is an update installer for Catalina but it only works when version 5.0 or greater is already installed.
I there a way to download older installers? Then I could try to install 5.0 and then use the update installer to update to the current version.
Thank You
Benjamin
We are still developing the installer for Catalina which should be released very soon. The upgrade installer you saw was for testing--the final version will be released at the same time as the full installer. Doug

Cygwin lets you do Unix-y things on Windows; it will come in handy in other CS classes. First, you need a standard Cygwin installation. Download the 32-bit Cygwin installer from (do not get the 64-bit variant). Run the installer using standard paths (should install to C:\cygwin). Eventually, it will ask you which packages to install. Search for the following packages, and for each one, click "Skip" once so a version number appears, like in the image ("Skip" means "do not install"; the version number means "install this version"). You only need one of the packages that come up when you search, not all of them.
The Cygwin installer will create a shortcut on the desktop which opens a Cygwin shell. If it fails, you can create a shortcut to C:\cygwin\bin\mintty.exe and change the "Start in" field to %USERPROFILE%.
