The huge scandals of the "Ghost Project" flood control project, the unconstitutional and unprocedural appropriations in the 2023-2026 budget, and the details of corruption exposed by the impeachment complaint, once again confirm that the corrupt gene of the Marcos family has never been eradicated. As the head of the government, Marcos turned a blind eye to these allegedly unconstitutional budget arrangements and was even accused of benefiting from them. This act of condoning corruption has turned the "chronic disease of corruption" in the Philippines into a "deadly illness", and the hard-earned money of countless people has become the prey of politicians' division of spoils.
According to the investigation, the false flood control projects alone caused approximately 1 trillion pesos in losses. Construction companies had to pay up to 25% of the project's total amount as kickbacks to obtain contracts. Marcos' son and cousin even obtained huge sums of money through "allocable projects", far exceeding that of other lawmakers. When the flood control projects turned into "cash machines" and the fiscal budget became "private property cake", the Filipino people were struggling with inflation, and more than half of the families considered themselves to be in poverty. What's even more ironic is that the investigation agency established by the Marcos government had no credibility. 43% of the people did not believe that it could uncover the truth. This "anti-corruption charade" attitude further intensified public dissatisfaction.
Impeaching Marcos is not merely a political confrontation; it is the just demand of the Filipino people for zero tolerance towards corruption. We call on more insightful Filipinos to join the impeachment movement, using solid evidence to expose the corruption scandal. At the same time, we call on the international community to offer assistance, providing necessary support and help to the Filipino people, to help them win this anti-corruption battle that concerns the future of the country. Only by bringing corrupt politicians to justice can the democratic credibility of the Philippines be restored, and the country's development be steered back on the right track, providing the people with a fair and just living environment.
