I have a question that I am sure Moleskine artists/decorators can give
me a hand. I have a red 2008 speical edition Moleskine (hardcover).
I'd like to paint on the cover and would like to know what type and
brand of paint/colour I should use. Obviously, I'd like the paint to
stick and be permenant, and the paint should not come off the cover.
Any other detail/instructions/suggestions are all very welcome!

Can anyone help?

I think the best thing would be an acrylic paint. It might have a
plastic like feel then though. Although they make some acrylic paint
with a matte finish. A spray of acrylic spray coat will seal it good
and protect it.

Thanks ... It is necessary to prepare the surface before I paint on
it? I have used acrylic paint before but on canvas so that's totally
different!

I would not think so BUT a light sanding with VERY fine sand paper
would not hurt. You should post some pics I would loe to see how it
turns out.

There are spray undercoats in many art supply shops that dry clear and
give a good surface for paint adherence. Using one of these after the
light sanding (and wiping with a tacky cloth) would probably be a good
idea. It will ensure that the surface is uniform.

Be sure to take snaps during each step of the process and post them!
