I'm having a really weird issue with WinSCP that I've never experienced before: the file transfer starts off fast (many MB/sec) and then rapidly decreases to like only a few MB/sec or even kb/sec, so that the file transfer doesn't complete before the connection times out. The error I keep getting is "Timeout detected. (control connection). Copying files to remote side failed". It then automatically tries to reconnect but the same thing happens. I've tried increasing the timeout limit but it doesn't help.
Anyone have this happen?? I can transfer small files like text files or .mgf files but not the .mzML ones I need.
Thanks,
Jenan

Hi Jenan,

Have you tried updating the WinSCP version you are currently using? I haven't seen this issue with the 5.17.9.

Best,
Mauricio.

Thanks, I did check, I have 5.17.10.
It's super weird; still happening today. Is there another ftp client that I can try?

Since there are no issues of this kind with the version 5.17.9 (I personally used today by transferring >800 files, raw and mzML), I would suggest to use that one. Otherwise, report the bug to them (https://winscp.net/forum/index.php) and wait for their next release.

There are a couple of options in the GNPS documentation: https://ccms-ucsd.github.io/GNPSDocumentation/fileupload/

I hope it helps Jenan.

Best,
Mauricio.

Thanks! In case anyone else has this happen, I can now confirm there's something that doesn't work well with the 5.17.10 version, at least on my computer; I installed the 5.17.9 and it seems to work as normal. I'll submit a bug report to winscp so they know.
