Dear all,
I have been taught computer programming languages like C,C++,and also Data Structures as a part of B.Tech Biotechnology curriculum. Can anyone explain their importance or need in Biotechnology field??I know its there in the curriculum as a standard for all btech courses as software companies take biotech students also. But i am asking for their application in biotech field.

Hi Sharada !

How r u?

I have done PG Diploma in Bioinformatics from IBAB Bangalore and I can tell u that in case u want to become a bioinformatics professional, it is important to develop programming skills because in bioinfo the professionals develop many software based tools which are used for analysis of biomolecules like proteins etc. Also in bioinfo field mostly linux is used as an operating system and it helps if u know all the commands. PERL language is also used to extract protein sequences from biological databases.

Hope I could make myself clear.

Best wishes-
