This story mentions using bleach to remediate mold. I stongly
recommend never to use bleach. Bleach is very neurotoxic and can cause
as much damage as the mold toxins themselves. It also is not powerful
enogh to reach mold growth that is embedded below the surface (hyphae)
and can actually serve to feed the mold once the enzymes breakdown
considering that bleach is usually 94% water.

Mold costing local taxpayers big money
Jun 12, 2009

An Arizona school district is finding out firsthand how much it can
cost to get rid of a mold problem.

This week, the Camp Verde Bugle reported on the local school
district's battle against mold at two schools, with 30 classrooms in
total apparently affected. The newspaper quotes local officials as
saying that the cost of cleanup will be about $14 per foot, or
hundreds of thousands of dollars in funds the district does not
currently have.

One school official, Stacey Barker, told the newspaper that the
district has a "serious problem with mold" and that removing it will
be a "miserable process." A total of 34 school districts in Arizona
reportedly struggle with mold problems.

Millions of homeowners also struggle with mold, which can be prevented
by using products like dehumidifiers to control moisture.

People are often able to remove mold in small areas by using a mix of
bleach and water, although if it gains a foothold in things like
carpeting and fabrics, those things can generally not be salvaged.
