hello there

would it be impossible to add Eijiro as one more diccionary available with moji?
at alc.co.jp can be checked for free and it has a lot of expressions and so on.

I am sorry but that's not possible. Moji uses offline versions of
dictionaries in edict format. As far as I can tell Eijiro does not use
edict format.

Edict is not a free dictionary. Thus, even if we got a copy of Eijiro
and extracted an edict format dictionary we would not be allowed to
redistribute the moji dictionary for free.

You can ask the makers of Eijiro whether they are willing to create a
package for moji and sell it on their website. I could give them some
assistance how to built the XPI package and how to use the edict format.
As moji is open to operate with any dictionary package which follows the
necessary structure and conventions moji is open to be extended by
commercial dictionaries in this way.

Cheers,

Gerald

Thank you Gerald,

I feared it was not possible, but still the idea of convincing them to make a package for Moji is pretty good indeed -- might give it a shot :) they sell the whole database for around 2000 jpy

it would be sweet if there was some little program that adapted the dictionary format used in that database to edict --- so people could use it if they bought the database

I already own the database (which is quite useless since it is too slow to search for all example sentences like in alc.co.jp) so I might give it a look, but I am no specialist -- if you or anybody in the list want to join me in the effort let me know

indeed I would love to see many other dictionaries adapted to Moji, it is just a great tool to discover new words and learn them afterward

regards
