Dear Moji Crew,
Well done! I like this Add-on alot. In fact, it won me over from
rikaichan.
I enjoyed it after using it at my University's computers. No problem
at all. But now that I'm trying to install it at home, I am running
into problem though.

I have tried to install:
1) MOJI stable version
2) Japanese-English word dictionary
3) English Kanji dictionary
4) Dictionary of Japanese places with readings and in romanji
5) Dictionary of Japanese names with readings and in romanji
6) Simplified Chinese-English word dictionary
7) Chinese-English word dictionary

(I am teaching myself to read both Simplified and Traditional Chinese
but write only Traditional, but in my free time go to numerous
Japanese websites.)

I keep getting error 203 on #7. I have even restarted my Firefox
profiles but the problem persists.
Even if I were to not install #7, on Tools>Add-Ons>Extensions, It
tells me that Moji cannot recognize the dictionaries. When I go to
Moji>Options>Kanji Dictionaries, the main box is clear and the only
installed dictionary that the "Select a dictionary to add..." is the
"English-Kanji Dictionary". All the others are nowhere to be seen.

I never had these problems back in the University. Back there, all the
dictionaries (#2-7) are already in the main box of the "Kanji
Dictionaries" tab. Why is this?

Thanks for your time.

Take care,

Dear Kalayaan,

first, please check the Error Console from the Tools menu if you can see
any particular error messages there either during startup of Firefox or
when accessing Moji Options.

also check the preferences, i.e. enter URL about:config and then enter
"moji" into the filter. Check if your dictionaries appear under
moji.dicts and moji.kanjidicts

If you don't have many other extensions installed in Firefox you could
try to remove all extensions and extensions settings to see if this
fixes it. You would navigate with Explorer into your Profile folder

http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder#Where_is_my_profile_folder.3F

and then delete all files beginning with extensions as well as the
extensions folder. After that all extensions should be gone from the
Add-On manager. Then reinstall all extensions again.

Make a full backup copy of your profile folder before trying that.

As alternative you could use the Profile Manager

http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Manager

to create a new profile and install moji there to see if it works in a
fresh profile.

Cheers,

Gerald

Dear Gerald,
Thanks for your reply. I tried the process again. This time, I cleared everything from the Error Console before starting the installation. For the Error 228, it reports 3 times:
"Warning: Empty string passed to getElementById()."
Then, while the installation continues, it becomes a long string of ""Warning: Empty string passed to getElementById().", each sandwiched by reports of "Warning: The 'charCode' property of a keyup event should not be used. The value is meaningless.
Source File: http://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&view=bsp&ver=1qygpcgurkovy
Line: 0".
(Note: Actually, the "Line: 0" does not appear in the Error Console at all. Yet, it always appears when I right-click the Warning and copy & paste it.)
I hope this helps.

As for the missing dictionaries, I am at fault here. After examining what I have in the my desktop at my University's computer, I discovered that (at home) I think I was looking at the wrong tab. I should have looked at the Word Dictionaries, not the Kanji Dictionaries. All but the "Chinese-English word dictionary" (the only thing I am having installation problems with Error 203's and 228's) can be added from the "Select a dictionary to add..." option of the Word Dictionaries tab. Sorry about that. _ГL*

Thanks for your time.

Dear Joey,

it is unclear to me whether the dictionaries which you have installed
successfully work normally or not. Are you able to look up words from
the words dictionaries and kanji from the kanji dictionaries?

If the only problem is the chinese-english dictionary I would recommend
to try another download. Sometimes the download gets interrupted or you
get a mirror site which has a corrupted file.

The correct file for Chinese-English is mojicnen-0.6.20071013.xpi
It should have exactly 1040369 bytes.

Cheers,

Gerald

Dear Gerald,
The problem is solved. I guess it fixed itself. Thanks for your reply, though!
