MARK YOUR CALENDARS - MAKER FAIRE 2013 IS BACK IN JUST 7 WEEKS
That’s right … The “Greatest Show and Tell on Earth” will be back at the San Mateo Event Center on Saturday, May 18 & Sunday, May 19, 2013! Now is the time to get your tickets and make your plans to be at this spectacular showing of the latest and greatest DIY projects that are shaping the maker movement. With over 1000 makers sharing their creativity, inventions, crafts, products, hobbies, art, and overall DIY genius, we know you’ll find the Faire to be inspiring and energizing to your creative self. There’s a maker in each of us – come to Maker Faire Bay 2013 to celebrate making! We can’t wait to see you there.

Highlights: A Taste of Maker Faire Bay Area 2013
Over the next 7 weeks, we’ll be sharing with you all sorts of news and updates about what’s happening at the Faire. Here are just a few highlights:
• Back to wow the crowds will be show favorites such as the Power Racing Series, Diet Coke and Mentos show, Arc Attack, Power Wheel Races, Swap-O-Rama-Rama, Death Defying Figure 8 Races, and the Learn to Solder area
• Come hear Adam Savage of TV’s famed “MythBusters!” share with the crowds his love of making and why we should all embrace the maker mindset on Sunday, May 19, 11am
In addition to the many wonderful makers, you’ll also find music and performers, tons of delicious food, speakers and hands-on demos, and lots of activities to get the kids engaged in.

Road to Maker Faire Challenge presented by Esurance
Are you a maker longing to be at Maker Faire, or do you know one? Get yourself and other makers you know involved in this contest to win $2,500 towards getting to Maker Faire Bay Area 2013! The contest rules and application form can be found here. Entries must be submitted no later than April 8, 2013 at 11:59 PM PDT.

Maker Corps at Maker Faire
The Maker Corps at Maker Faire program helps you make an invaluable contribution to the success of Maker Faire by providing a platform for you to learn about Make, Maker Faire and the Maker Movement as well as enhance your DIY skills. In addition, you will get behind-the-scenes experience and help make the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth happen!
TIME COMMITMENTS
In addition to selecting your onsite schedule in 4-hour blocks of time, you will need to complete the online training modules learning about the Maker Movement and Maker Faire Training.
Your 4-hour shift gets you a Maker Corps at Maker Faire t-shirt and your One Day Pass.
Your 8-hour shift gets you a Maker Corps at Maker Faire t-shirt and a Weekend Pass.
IMPORTANT TO NOTE
If you are volunteering for a specific Maker exhibit, DO NOT sign up here. Please contact the Maker directly to sign up with them as a Maker assistant for their exhibit.
You must be at least 18 years old to participate alone. If you are younger than 18 years old, and older than 12 years old, a parent or guardian must accompany you onsite.
