1What should I pay attention to when using my HONOR CHOICE Earbuds X for the first time?

You need to activate your earbuds before using them for the first time. Place them into the charging case and close the lid for 10 seconds to have them activated and make them in use.

2. How do I restore my HONOR CHOICE Earbuds X to factory settings?

Open the charging case, then press and hold the function button at the bottom for at least 10 seconds. When the red indicator flashes, the earbuds have been restored to their factory settings.

3. Is the HONOR CHOICE Earbuds X waterproof?

The earbuds are splash-proof only. Please wipe them dry as soon as possible if they are splashed with water and do not rinse or submerge them in water. The charging case is not waterproof.

4. What should I do if my HONOR CHOICE Earbuds X is uncomfortable to wear?

Our ears can be sensitive due to having an extensive network of capillaries and nerves. Adjust how the earbuds fit if slight discomfort is felt the first time you put them on.

6. No pop-up window is shown when the earbuds are taken out of the charging case.

9. How to check the battery level of my earbuds?

Once they are connected to your phone, the battery status of your Earbuds X will be shown in the notification bar. If you are using an Android phone, you can also install our mobile app to see battery details.

10. How do I check the battery level of the charging case?

Open the charging case and check the LED indicator. The indicator is red if the battery level is lower than 20% and blue if the battery level is higher than 20%.

But here's the rub: although Honor split from its parent company, Huawei, in November 2020, that didn't seem to fully extricate the now-independent Chinese smartphone maker from the ongoing trade ban instigated by the USA, against Huawei, in April 2020. All of which is a roundabout way of saying that you may not be able to buy them in the US and, truly, that is a shame.

Another feature worth shouting about here is on-ear volume control. Although you might not think it's a game-changer, the fact that you cannot swipe up or down on your AirPods Pro to control your music, but you can here, becomes no small perk over time. Not having to dig your phone out of your bag to turn the music down on a packed train: huge.

When Honor announced that its temperature monitor sensors were definitely going to be included in its new earbuds (and thus, it had beaten Apple to the punch), it did caveat the announcement with the fact that the tech had yet to receive regulatory approval.

Honor told us: "In every market that Honor operates in, it strictly complies with the local laws and regulations. Considering these factors, the introduction of features and products in markets will also vary, depending on the requirements of the market.

Arguably the biggest difference between the AirPods Pro and the Honor Earbuds 3 Pro is how much better the latter sounds. Let's let that sink in for a moment. It is no small or incremental improvement on Apple's top-tier offering either.

We streamed music from Tidal and Apple Music from our iPhone, Samsung's Galaxy S22 and the Honor Magic 4 Pro. The bass floor through Stormzy's Vossi Bop and Dave's PSYCHODRAMA is deeper, snappier and more impactful through the Honor earbuds. Vocals sound more expressive too; Dave's lamenting, brooding lyrical stylings shine that bit brighter thanks to the extra ounce of texture and realism that the Honor earbuds are able to unearth.

Honor's novel (and potentially risky) coaxial dual driver design has been integrated with all the skill of a surgeon's unwavering hand, to the effect that the Earbuds 3 Pro sound more engaging, more zealous and more sparkling through the easily handled treble than their AirPods counterparts. Any reservations we might have had about the driver configuration are quickly quashed as we tap our feet in time to the unrelenting and challenging musical strands found in System of a Down's B.Y.O.B, all of which are held masterfully in check by the Honor Earbuds 3 Pro.

Stream Debussy's Deux Arabesques, performed by Mehahem Pressler, and the three-dimensional keys soar up through the registers with enough space around each well-timed treble note to feel both musically pleasing and actually played by lilting, breathing human hands.

There's no getting around it. If imitation be the sincerest form of flattery, Honor had some very nice things to say about Apple's AirPods Pro when fashioning the Earbuds 3 Pro. It's alarming how similar the two propositions look, side by side.

That said, Honor has gone just a touch better here again in some ways. As well as white, Honor has released a silver colorway and, with one bud weighing just 5.1g without the tip, Honor has also shaved three decigrams off the AirPods Pro's listed 5.4g per bud. It's a minor improvement, but if you like the look and fit of the AirPods Pro, you'll have no complaints here.

Additionally, when both products are under our nose, the Honor's box is just a touch shinier and more rounded at the edges, with silver branding across the hinge of the lid which is held together with decent and reassuringly strong magnets.

We can't help but return to the on-ear volume function either; swipe up or down along the straight spine of either earbud and a little beep reassures you that the earpiece has registered your request and done the business for you.

All things considered, the Honor Earbuds 3 Pro represent exceptionally good value, especially if you're an Honor smartphone owner and can have at that AirPods-esque quick-pair feature for nowhere near AirPods money.

Honor customers are not used to paying this much for sonic deliverance though, with $60 / 70 the going rate for the older siblings to the Earbuds 3 Pro. Will buyers pay? We hope so. For the Honor Earbuds 3 Pro represent excellent value.

The earbuds are beautifully designed, they come in a little lightweight box which is not only used to store the device but also for charging and holds three full charges which give users an additional 18 hours of entertainment. I thought this was a really great feature especially for taking on weekend trips or on holiday to save space.

One of the most important features for me is noise cancellation, having the ability to block out all sound during my commute to work and listen to podcasts or music and not have the background noise of other people or the train announcements and take the time to get motivated for the day ahead.

The true wireless earbuds have dual-microphone noise cancellation technology and can capture voice effectively and ensure crisp call quality even in noisy environments. I have taken 3 train journeys using the earbuds and they have exceeded my expectations in terms of noise cancellation.

During lockdown I really struggled to keep my regular fitness routine, whilst I do have a home gym set up and plenty of nearby running routes, I found the sudden change to the norm effected my motivation. So getting back to the gym after lockdown felt a bit daunting at first, however I found the earbuds really helped me get excited about working out again! New fitness gear always helps give you a little boost.

Earbuds X7 and Earbuds A also feature a HiFi 5 digital signal processor (DSP) and Golden Ear certification for detailed sound output. Honor claims its new earbuds can last up to 9 hours of playback on their own while their charging cases add another 31 hours of battery life. Both are IP54-rated against water and dust.

The physical similarities of the Earbuds 2 Lite to Apple AirPods lends some utility in checking out this article on cleaning AirPods. The gist is use a swab, warm water, and a bit of dish soap to gently wipe away debris.

The box includes a USB-C cable and a few spare sets of silicone ear tips. Literature in the box is sparse, but a QR code takes you to download the app (more about that later). There are also a couple of notes about pairing, as well as how to factory reset the Earbuds 2 Lite.

Generally speaking, active noise canceling most effectively reduces the loudness of low-frequency sounds, while passive isolation most effectively tempers sounds above 1kHz. The HONOR Earbuds 2 Lite quiets sounds across the audible frequency spectrum. The ANC even manages to attenuate midrange and treble frequencies, with the greatest net attenuation around 840Hz.

During what has been a hot summer, the HONOR headset dulls the roar of my one-meter-distant air conditioner to a subtle whoosh. Isolation depends on your ability to achieve a reliable seal with the ear tips, so while the ANC is objectively effective, the mediocre fit of the buds to my ears hampers the isolation. For most listeners able to get the Earbuds 2 Lite to fit well, conversations and clattering sounds will be one-quarter to one-sixth as loud with ANC enabled. If you want to hear background sounds, you can toggle Awareness mode on.

Unlike some earphones, the Earbuds 2 Lite does not automatically enter pairing mode when the case opens. The quick start guide will tell you to simply open the case and press the button on the case for two seconds. After initially pairing the Bluetooth 5.2 earbuds it automatically connects in the future. It stays connected without dropping the signal.
