Dear Mission family,
I want to begin by thanking you for your very kind and supportive comments on my video presentation- Preferential Option for the Poor. We only have one life in which to make a difference!!
It is in this context of our call to serve the poor as Jesus did that I'd like to invite you to seriously consider joining our Mission of Hope trip to Appalachia in July. Why? Our Mission trip offers a unique opportunity to provide crucial, hands-on support to one of the poorest regions in the US, tackling extreme generational poverty while building lifelong relationships.
I personally grew up in rural upstate NY poverty, and my mother never let us forget how blessed we were by others' kindness. If my health allowed it, I'd be traveling on a mission with you, but I cannot. So, I'm reaching out, hoping that you or your child or your grandchild might want to become involved with the Mission of Hope's call to service as we reach out to our neighbors in need. Become part of a very special organization, and I do believe you will be forever grateful.
If you're looking for a way to share your heart, your skills, and your empathy while making a tangible difference in communities facing decades-long economic and infrastructural challenges, you should consider our week-long mission trip. Dates are: Departure on Saturday, July 25, 2026, and returning Friday, July 31st. (Forms attached)
There's truly another reason to apply for Mission: Beyond helping others, you'll likely find that your own life will be changed by the hospitality, faith, and relationships you develop with those you serve during this week, as well as the mission team. You will encounter Christ in the margins and in each other. You will see the "face of God" in those enduring the hardships of systemic poverty. You'll become part of the goodness the human family can share with those in need, and your experience will bless you in ways you cannot even begin to imagine.
I also look forward to touching base with you as your Mission experience unfolds.
Living in Hope,
