Please see Jonathan's note of thanks for the assistance our wonderful Mission family provided to Mr. James Charles.
Hi Deacon James:
I wanted to share a note of gratitude with you, your Board, and your donors at North Country Mission of Hope.
As a native of Plattsburgh - born and raised - and a former student of Sister Debbie Blow and Sister Stephanies, as well as having completed my high school at Seton Catholic, knowing many of your names but having not seen many of you in decades - (where does the time go?), I cannot tell you the immense joy and pride it brings me to see my hometown community rallying on behalf of those among us who are the most vulnerable and in need. Furthermore, I am humbled by the confidence that you all have placed in my work simply because of my connection to the area and to Sister Debbie. Though I know she's a formidable reference for me. :)
Your support and response to the need we have for James and his heart surgery happening in the USA just after May 5th have been both overwhelming and inspiring. You've stepped up to the plate for my Haitian friends, whom I've lived amongst for the better part of the past 14 years - in ways nobody else has. Hurricane. Earthquake. Hurricane. Heart surgery. You've never let me down.
I hope you can say the same for me - that I haven't let you down!
I'm attaching photos of James and will share more as he makes his journey to Texas for surgery. He is due to fly on May 5th, have his pre-op exams on the 7th, with surgery to follow.
Again, my most sincere thanks and appreciation.
Best,
Jonathan LaMare
