So the next work up is testing the hell out of Eric's checksum branch. I
invite everyone who cares to grab his code and try it out on a dev
instance if you can. There's a quickstart guide on the wiki
(www.mogilefs.org) to help quickly set up test networks.
2.50's been a rough series... We've laid the groundwork for some great
fixes to reliability, but I've seen that the tests aren't nearly as robust
as they could be.
While we work on the checksum branch, and for the next release or two
after, I want to focus solely on small usability fixes (making rebalance
more usable), and many fixes to the tests. We need to go back through all
the 2.50 bug fixes and ensure as much as possible have automated tests.
Fsck needs tests. Rebalance needs more tests.
Any help at all in writing tests will be much appreciated. I want to keep
MogileFS moving at a gradual, but consistent clip through 2012 and the
best way to do that right now is to improve our regression testing.
Thanks,
