V2 is live. One of the features that we added was the ability to create a Facebook page for your game.  The process is a little click-intensive (apologies, though it's mostly all facebook stuff), but it shouldn't be too hard to get up. Here are detailed instructions:

Setting up a Facebook Page for your Game

One of Mogade's features is the ability to create a Facebook page for your game. Unfortunately the process requires a few more steps than we would like, but it's all pretty straightforward stuff.

Setting things up in Mogade
The first thing you'll want to do is log into mogade and select your game. In the menu you'll see "facebook pages". Click on this link and fill out the form (make sure to check the enable box). Next, click on the "images" submenu and upload a banner image along with 1-4 (or none, if you wish) additional images. Suggested dimensions are provided within the tip area of the right menu.

Once this is completed, you can point your browser to http://www.mogade.com/facebook/YOU_GAME_KEY and http://www.mogade.com/facebook/leaderboard/YOUR_GAME_KEY to get a sense for what the pages will look like. Don't worry, it'll look better within the context of a facebook page.

Please note that these pages are cached for a couple minutes. Any changes you make will not be immediately visible.

Setting things up in Facebook
Now the real fun begins.

1 - Creating your page:
Log into facebook and goto http://www.facebook.com/pages/ Click the "+ Create Page" button in the upper right corner. You can pick whichever category you prefer (and change it later). The best choice for most is likely "Software" or "Games/Toys" under the "Brand or Product" section. Accept the terms and click the "get started" button.

You've created a facebook page! There's a lot of configuration you can (and should do), including enabling various apps, adding a bunch of information/description/icons/urls/etc. We'll focus on getting your mogade pages loaded properly.

Before you continue, if you click on the "Home" button in the top right and then hover over the "Account" button, you should see "Use Facebook as Page" in the drop down menu (if not, wait a few minutes and refresh). Go ahead and click on the link, and then pick your new page. This is how you go back to your page from your profile.

2 - Creating your apps:
You must first add the Facebook Developer application to your account. Goto https://www.facebook.com/developers/ (remember this URL, you can always come here to get back to your applications) and add the application.

Next, click the "+ Set Up New App" button in the top right (at this step you may need to provide Facebook with additional information...*shrug*) and begin the process of creating an application. Most of the information here isn't very important. Click on the "Facebook Integration" choice in the left menu. At the bottom section, named "Page Tabs" enter a name (your game name or simply 'welcome') and enter the following for Tab URL: http://www.mogade.com/facebook/YOUR_GAME_KEY and for Secure Tab URL enter : https://www.mogade.com/facebook/YOUR_GAME_GAME

Save the changes and now click the "Application Profile Page" link. In the left menu, click "Add to My Page" and select the page you created in the previous step.

3 - Creating your leaderboard app
Repeat step above step, creating a new app, but this time use the following Tab URL and Secure Tab URLs:

(remember to save the changes, go to the app's profile and click the "Add to My Page" button).

4 - Finishing it up
Return to your game's page (Account > Use Facebook as Page). In the Right "Admin" section click "See All". Goto "Manage Permission" and select the "welcome" (or whatever you named the 1st app) as the "Default Landing Page".

5 - Other Stuff
At this point, your page is ready to go. You can customize it as much as you like, but filling out additional information, adding more apps, or doing anything else you want. You can also add custom icons to your apps so that it looks nicer on your page (although, at this point, I don't think there's anything else useful you can do in your two apps).

Something is not right, there are a lot of scores from this week that are not being shown.  I had two scores that were 1 million plus (Floodums and Wendy) for this week and I don't see them now.  I had the reset set to UTC -7, is there a chance things have reset?  Any idea why these scores aren't showing?

I have noticed some missing scores today as well. For me, it is not
so bad, since local high scores might be resubmitted when the user
plays next (did this in case a user was offline when they get a high
score).

I notice, like Marc, that the missing scores also seem to be high
(over 1 million). But that could be coincidence, since they are more
memorable scores when they are so high... hard to tell.

Looks like my scores are back to normal.  Looking forward to wiring up my Facebook page.  Is there a way real people can claim their ranking/username and you store that in the db?

Hi all,

I created facebook page of my new game in Mogade and Facebook and in Mogade I created also the leaderboard.
The leaderboard URL return the exception:

Routing Error

No route matches [GET] and my leaderboard URL.

What is wrong?
Also, what means https://www.mogade.com/facebook/leaderboard/YOUR_GAME_GAME ? What the difference from YOUR_GAME_GAME
and YOUR_GAME_KEY?

Thank you.
Bye

The link should point to:

4eb56cf58fcd523bd9000076 << YOUR_GAME_KEY

Hi Karl,

Awesome work !

However it seems Facebook has redacted the landing paqe functionality...

I've not done a lot with Facebook apps, I'm thinking there must be some way to get some form of mogade integration working in Facebook with what you've already done, however I'm still fumbling round with it.

Has anyone worked this out yet?

What a pain. The facebook stuff was always iffy...

I've wanted to do facebook integration directly from the library/game, but the WP support for facebook is laughable....I never got the awkward flow to work right.

I'm kinda thinking "oh well". The mogade scores are all publicly available (through the json api)...so someone might be able to figure something out, but I don't think it'll be me ....

I’ve tried (unsuccessfully) to do the Facebook integration. I’ve been doing FB development for going on 5+ years now and the problem is they simply don’t have their sh*t together. The API keeps changing, the authentication is flakey, etc. Integration on WP7 sucks because of the OAuth hoops you have to jump through (which sometimes work). In short, it’s a horrible experience I wouldn’t want on my worst enemy. Someday I might try again as both toolsets have matured but I applaud anyone trying it, just don’t get your hopes up too much as it’s not a walk in the park.

Hey there...

Yep, bit of a bummer.  But you get that.

I'd really love to have some way for people to view the leaderboards from a facebook fan page for a game.  I really think this is a red hot idea and I think we're really close.

I've no idea how you do it, but I'm thinking youshould be able to add a mogade app for the highest scores similar to the Events or Photos facebook apps and then pin this on the facebook page above the timeline.

Similar to this app...

Bil or anyone... Is this feasible?

I don't think we should give up, I think it's just a click or two away... but what to click?

OK.

The answer is of course yes.... The steps to make this happen is to create a facebook page tab as described here..

The result can be seen here...

The Application Profile Page does not exist anymore in Facebook. To add your Facebook app tab to your Page you can write this URL to browser and replace the app_id with your Facebook app's id: http://www.facebook.com/dialog/pagetab?app_id=123456789&redirect_uri=http://www.facebook.com
