Hi everyone,

I'm calibrating a MODFLOW model using PEST through the ModelMuse GUI. PEST has been running for about two weeks, and I'm concerned about what would happen if the process is interrupted (for example, due to a power failure or system restart).

Is there a way to safely resume a PEST calibration run without losing the progress made so far?

Any advice or recommended workflow for this situation would be greatly appreciated.

Sergio,

It is possible to re-start a PEST run if it was interrupted, but it depends on a number of factors as well as the PEST version you are working with (i.e., PEST, PEST_HP, Parallel PEST, BEOPEST, PESTPP, etc.). Assuming you are working with the regular PEST version, you may want to read its documentation. I'm not sure how ModelMuse handles these options, but if you restart a previously interrupted run using the command line, there are several switches ("/d", "/s", "/r", etc.) handling the restart process. All of them are covered in the manual "pestman1.pdf" (section 5.1.5 and Appendix B). Go to pesthomepage.org to download the documentation.
