Is anyone out there using Model Muse? I can not find out how to
change the elevation of the bottom of my model. I did not set it
using an "object" and it is all one value everywhere. It seems like
it should be in the "layers" part of the menu but it is not.

Thanks, Mike

1. Create a new object.
2. Change the number of 3rd dimension formulas to zero.
3. Go to the Data sets tab and use the object to set the formula for one
of the data sets that define the bottom of the model layer.

There is a 4 minute video at the following URL that describes how to
create layers with non-uniform elevations.

Thanks, that worked great!

Now I have another question...... When I have done multiple model
changes (each time refining things a bit) and don't change the name of
my model, I notice that if I have been "importing model results" and
"coloring the grid" each data set that I have imported previously
shows up there in the color grid pull down. This becomes cumbersome
and confusing quickly as usually I am interested in only a couple data
sets (i.e. heads at stress period 3 step 8 for the last model run),
but there can be many similarly named data sets there from the other
model runs.

Is there a way to delete or clean out those older data set versions
from the pull down without renaming the model each time I make a minor
refinement?

Mike,

Use menu item Data|Edit Data Sets to open the data sets window.  Expand Optional and Model Results to show the imported data sets.  Select one or more data sets and click Delete.

If the volume where you want to have the impermeable area and underlying
drain are currently both in the same layer, you do need to subdivide the
layer. This can be done the MODFLOW Layer Groups dialog box either by
inserting a new layer group or by increasing the discretization of a
layer group.

You don't need to subdivide layer 3. You can think of the drains as
being located at the centers of the cells in layer 3. However, you do
need to make sure that there is some connection through permeable cells
between the cells that will contain the drains and the locations where
water enters the system.
