Hello,

I am running a model of coastal unconfined aquifer, with 38 layers, recharge, and constant head in tow parallel boundaries (the other 2 are no-flux boundaries).
I get in the middle of the model dry cell on top of active cell, with higher head than the bottom of the dry cell.
the result create conditions of confined aquifer in the middle...
i tried to use wetting condition, but the cells remain dry...changing the wetting factors didn't help.

i would appreciate any help.

Thanks,
Yoni

Hi.

Try to use the MODFLOW-NWT package for unconfined aquifers.

Thank you for the answer,

I am trying to use MODFLOW-NWT, steady-state conditions, but keep getting immediately:

Executable crashed!

MODLOW terminate with error!

In the .out file i cant find a message for the reason of the termination.

any ideas?

Thanks

Send the last few lines of the .lst file.
Usually increasing the number of iterations in the newton solver and changing to UPW layer package helps.

Hi,

you can find a screenshot of the relevant lines of .out files.

Thanks!

I dint know that you are using GMS.
Try increasing the number of iterations in the solver settings to few thousands.

Are the conductivities too low in the model??

  Hi,

i found out that using 64bit MODFLOW-NWT run (though not converged yet). When I used double precision it crashed.
could you help me understand the reason for that?

Regards, Yoni

no luck with that...
the software terminates immediately at the begging.
That is why I can't figure out what may be the reason.
