Hi Team,
I would like to add drain cells all over my model domain, but it is extremely slow to add drain cells from inside the Visual Modflow Flex interface. It seems this is a known bug in Visual Modflow according to their support team.
I would therefore like to create the input file outside Flex and would appreciate if someone can assist/guide me.
I tried to create few cells in Flex and this is how the header of the .DRN file looks like when opened in a text editor

22 163
22
2 187 396 115.705 26.12
3 187 396 115.705 26.12
4 187 396 115.705 26.12
5 187 396 115.705 26.12
6 187 396 115.705 26.12
7 187 396 115.705 26.12
6 187 396 115.705 26.12
.
.
.
I can guess from the header that:
22 : total nr of drn cells
163: ??
22 : total nr of drn cells
2: layer nr 187:row 396:column 115.705=drain elevation 26.12=drn conductance

I still can't figure out what 163 represents!

Kindly assist.

Check the Online Guide to MODFLOW. It is the unit number of the file in which the drain flows will be saved.

In ModelMuse, you could use a polygon surrounding the grid to specify all of the drains at once.

Thanks Richard. I checked it up, though some of the parameters are difficult to understand. For example, when they say the number should be greater than 0 for the unit to output, there is no mention at all of how which numbers are valid🙂.
Unfortunately I am not familiar with Muse and I have to stick to VMflow flex at the moment, though t's really frustrating!

Just look in the name file and see which unit number they're using for the cell by cell flow output file.

Thanks, I eventually managed to get it running!
