Hi everybody,
I want to extract all calculated based on their location ( I mean their x and y coordinate on the map) from an executed Modflow model. Which one of the available files that have been created by Modflow model can provide me with my required content? I need this file to extract some heads on specific locations.
Thanks in advance for your answers. I really appreciate your cooperation.

Typically, the file will have the extension .hds, .bhd, or .fhd. GW_Chart can be used to extract the data you want based on the layer, row, and column numbers.

Actually, I am using modflow2000 through GMS software and I have no file with any of extensions which you have mentioned. But I have a file with .hed extension. Does this one work as same as the ones that you have referred to?

I'm not familiar with GMS at all. Nevertheless, each MODFLOW model has a file system including a so colled name file with the extension .NAM, provided that GMS generates this file with this same extension too (e.g., VMOD Flex uses the .IN extension). This is a kind of TOC file including all inputs to the model, the solver used and outputs generated by the model. The last few (usually 3) records in this file designate the binary output files generated by the simulation. The first of these is most likely the binary heads file you are looking for. You should look for something like: "DATA(BINARY) nnn 'modelname.HDS'" where nnn is a unit number and the extension in your case might be different from HDS. You then may use GW_Chart (available from the USGS website). There are other utilities or programmatic methods available in case you don't succeed, but these are more advanced tools. Google might be your friend.
