Hi everyone,

I am new to MODFLOW, and I am trying to do a test run on ModelMuse by using estimated values before I get data from the boreholes. I am planning to model pollutant loading through seeping from a recycling plant. In the study area, there are no recharge or withdrawal wells, only boreholes for soil data, water quality sampling, hydraulic conductivity, and water level will be used.

1. I wanted to know what MODFLOW model is best suited for this. I plan to use MODEFLOW-2005.

2. When I choose the Basic Transport Package under MT3DMS, I don't see the section where I can add the Mobile Species. Is there something I have not installed, or have I installed ModelMuse incorrectly?

3. Also, when I set up and run the model, I get the error "No valid head observations defined for the current stress period". However, I have selected the HOB under the observation package, but I don't see it when I try to assign my boreholes to it.

I would appreciate any feedback and help on these issues.

Thank you,
Majid.

2. ModelMuse uses the same chemical species for MT3D and the MODFLOW 6 Groundwater Transport Process. The chemical species are defined on a pane parallel to the MT3D  pane in the MODFLOW Packages and Programs dialog box.
3. You define head observations using point objects in the Object Properties dialog box.

Thank you for the reply, Mr. Winston.

I have seen how to add head observations. And the chemical species.

Hi Chris,

I am currently using and practicing with MF6, since a few experts online have said it is better, and has a better solver.
