Hi all,

I have a model that runs well, but when I add topography I keep receiving an "initial head below layer bottom" error.  I have all of my head boundaries set to Model_Top and they all seem to be at the right elevation. I set abitrary values for the heads of above the Model_Top and the model still fails.

The topography is steep, but not overly complex.  Does anyone have any ideas about a possible fix?

Cheers,

Lachlan

Change the initial head value to Model_Top!

There is a data set named ModflowInitialHead (or something like that). You need to specify values for that data set.

Sometimes you specify ModflowinitialHead Dataset = ModelTop and you can obtain that error code. How do you define second layer? Based on first one? Try to check that You can create a dataset calculating differences between first layer and Second Layer (Z value) and check if you have negative values
