Hi,

I'm a new ModelMuse user. I want to import DEM file, which has the
extension .RST (raster), into ModelMuse but I couldn't. I think there
is a problem in importing DEM into the ModelMuse. You can try this
yourself. When you are importing any file, you will find extensions in
front of (file of type) such as .grd or .dat when you are importing
surfer data or .shp when you are importing shape file. To sum up,
there is no any extensions while you are importing DEM data.

Do you have a solution for this problem?
Thanks in advance.

.....save it as .dat. If still cant be imported, find the manual of ModelMuse and figure out what kind of format it supports. (Maybe USGS standard DEM format)

I suspect that ".rst" stands for "raster" The released version of
ModelMuse can import one type of raster file: Surfer grid files.
Another type of raster file is an ASCII raster file generated by some
ESRI programs. If it is that type of file, I can provide you with a
beta version of ModelMuse that can read them if you contact me at my
work email (rbw...@usgs.gov). both the Surfer and ESRI raster files are
text files so you should be able to read what is in them with a text
editor. If you can't read what is in them with a text editor, then they
are some sort of binary file and ModelMuse probably can't read them.

Thanks to Linwei and Richard I was able to import the DEM into
ModelMuse.

In short, the steps I followed (for those who will have the same
problem)
1- Converting the DEM in Idrisi to .dat file.
2- Copying the information (x,y,z) from the .dat file into Open Office
"Calc"
3- Importing them through import points and copying them in the data
tab.
