Hi all, I am running a published USGS ModelMuse Model (MODFLOW-NWT and MODPATH), and got several error messages. ModelMuse does not execute successfully for the flow simulation. Since this model is previously published, what I did was just downloading and hoping to reproduce the results now. Here are the several error messages:

1. At least one of the following active cells is hydraulically isolated

2. Initial l head is below or equal to the bottom of the layer

3. One or more boundaries in the WEL package are in inactive cells

4. Large drain elevation gradient

Regarding errors 1 and 2: I am already using the NWT solver and UPW package, which are supposed to help with the dry cells issue. Any recommendation on how to solve these issues?
Regarding error 3: all the wells are pre-defined in the model based on literature, so I should not change their locations. What should I do to solve this then?

Error 4: Is this negligible?

I would appreciate for any input, thanks!

#1 is a completely separate issue from wetting and drying.  It means there are two groups of active cells with no connections between them.
#2 Might or might not be a problem. You should check out the cells that are mentioned to assess them.
#3 and #4 normally should not prevent the model from running.

Thanks Richard! It looks like the key issue to prevent the model from running is No.1 " At least one of the following active cells is hydraulically isolated"?
I ran the model a couple of times, and the Model Monitor has a red face on the "Monitor" section, while Listing and Results sections are both green. It looks like the model ran, but not successfully? However, the binary head file (bhd) and cell-by-cell (CBC) files are both empty. The list file terminates at "Solving for head". Can you please advise what could possibly cause this issue?

Thanks!

The error message about the hydraulically disconnected cells identified cells thay don't have any connections between them. One of the groups of cells is probably very small and might be just a single cell. You can make that cell or group of cells inactive.
